On July 1, 2024, Mode Designs updated its official X to announce that it will only be available in limited “small” lots regarding the DSS Font Awesome Keycaps, which are now available for single purchase.
This limited edition, small batch DSS keycap set was designed by FontAwesome and manufactured by Signature Plastics.
Since it is only listed as a “small batch,” it is unclear as to how much inventory is available, but it is certain that it is not very much.
DSS Font Awesome Keycaps are part of a “special project” announced in June 2024, a limited edition keycap created in collaboration with FontAwesome for the limited edition Sonnet (75% keyboard).
It is manufactured by Signature Plastics and is made of ABS double shot, so the print will not be erased.
The product information page did not show the actual installation on the keyboard, but this video shows the actual image, which gives a more concrete image of what it will look like after installation.
As one would expect from FontAwesome, a company that “makes fonts exclusively for fonts,” the beautifully rounded fonts and icons are stunning.

If you are willing to buy a keyboard of a typical size (75% or smaller), you can buy a base set with blue arrow keys for under $100.00.
However, considering the shipping costs to Japan, you may need “a little courage”.
KawamuraHmmm… it’s quite painful to spend almost 5,000 yen for shipping, but that’s what happens when you buy things from the US…
If you have a weakness for the words “limited edition,” I personally highly recommend it.
