Elekit has released its first keyboard assembly kit, the “So-Sho SO-SHO”.

The public image shows a 27,500 yen (tax included), 40% larger column staggered, left-right split fully wireless connection, one rotary encoder on each side, and a choice of trackball/trackpad/cover configurations.

It is not only visually striking, but also quite modern and self-made keyboard context conscious.

The set includes a keyboard base kit, trackpad module, trackball module, two LiPo batteries, and separately required keyswitches, keycaps, Xiao nRF52840 Plus x2, soldering iron and other assembly tools. The following items are included in the package.

In other words, it is not a finished product, but only a kit to enjoy assembling.

Rather than a simple kit for introductory use, it appears to be a very full-scale configuration, including split, wireless, and even pointing device support.

The main visual is based on some of the images submitted by Elekit.

In addition, “Macrokeypad6” and “MacroNumpad,” Elekit’s packaged version of Yusha Kobo’s well-known keyboard assembly kits, will also be available.

The announcement of Souzang also reminds us that the keyboard context within the group has begun to move in a tangible way in the year since it became part of Youshakobo.

The Present Location of Yousha Kobo and Kaho Wireless Holdings in the Keyboard Context as Seen from the Twin Palm

Through Souzhang, we can see where Yousha Studio and its parent company, Kaho Wireless Holdings, are today in the “keyboard context.

eK Japan, which operates ELECIT, is a group company of Kaho Radio Holdings Co.

The company’s corporate profile page lists Good Day, Kaho Parts Center, and Yusha Kobo as companies in the same group.

This means that electronic construction kits, electronic components distribution, home centers, and stores specializing in home-built keyboards are included in the Kaho Radio Holding Company Group.

And we have begun to see this trend as an actual movement over the past year.

Yousha Kobo announced that it will become a subsidiary of Kaho Wireless Holdings on March 25, 2025, which at the time of writing is approximately one year after becoming a part of the company.

Furthermore, in July 2025, Kaho Parts Center, a group company, will start selling self-made keyboard-related products as part of a cooperative measure with Yousha Kobo*1.

In the following September 2025, it was also announced that the Home Center Good Day Niecehama store would begin handling Yousha Kobo’s home-built keyboard-related products*2.

Given this background, the “SOUSHO SO-SHO” can be viewed not simply as Elekit’s entry into a new genre, but as a movement within the Kaho Wireless Holdings Group to integrate electronic construction and self-made keyboards.

It has been about a year since Yusha Kobo, a store specializing in self-made keyboards, became part of Kaho Wireless Holdings.

Following the development of parts distribution and in home improvement stores, now comes a keyboard assembly kit from the ELECKIT brand.

This appears to be a very big step for us as a group.

The editorial team sees the release of Souzang as a significant move for the “homebrew keyboard genre.

For Kaho Wireless Holdings, it appears that they are trying to gradually root “home-built keyboards” in the context of electronic construction and general distribution, rather than a hobby closed only within specialty stores.

In addition to this, recently, finished left-right split keyboards have been attracting attention, and products born from the home-built keyboard genre have attracted great interest through crowdfunding, giving the impression that the perception of “input devices that are not bound by existing frameworks” itself is gradually expanding.

This area has definitely broadened its base from the past, including configurations that include tracking devices.

Now may be the very time when we are in the middle of that change.
