That trackball image was apparently this.
And the addition of 25mm and 34mm replacement trackball collars is good news for the homebrew keyboard crowd.

On November 13, 2025, Elecom issued a news release announcing the HUGE PLUS, the first fully remodeled large HUGE series trackball in eight years, and the reissue of the bitra, the company’s most compact trackball ever.
HUGE PLUS is expected to cost around 19,980 yen, or 12,980 yen including tax, and as a pre-launch campaign, pre-order pricing is available for a limited time.

Large-sized trackball “HUGE PLUS” – renewed with bearing support and multiple connections

Released in 2017, the HUGE model has been a long seller in Japan and abroad as an index finger operated model with a palm rest to support the wrist and a large 52mm diameter ball.
The new “HUGE PLUS” is the successor to the “HUGE PLUS” and supports multiple connections.
The main points are as follows
- Support unit with Minebea-Mitsumi bearings
The structure supports the ball with multiple bearings, enabling smoother ball manipulation than before. The structure prevents direct contact with the ball surface, which prevents dust from accumulating and reduces the frequency of maintenance. - Standard bearing/separate ruby support unit can be replaced
The support unit can be easily removed and replaced with an artificial ruby unit (sold separately). The standard bearing support unit is also available as a separately sold replacement unit, designed not only to change the feel but also for ease of maintenance for long-term use. - USB 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB 3-way multi-connection
Allows simultaneous connection to up to three devices, one for each method. This is a great specification for users who work back and forth between desktop PCs, laptops, and tablets. - Supports 1,000Hz polling rate for wired connections
Equipped with a high-performance sensor of gaming mouse class, it supports a high polling rate of 1,000Hz for wired connections. It is also suitable for tasks that require fine pointer control. - Rechargeable + USB Type-C port
Built-in lithium-ion battery eliminates the need for battery replacement; power can be supplied through the Type-C port, so the device can be charged from a PC or mobile battery. - Major buttons have silent switches
Seven buttons have silent switches to reduce clicking noise when working late at night or in cafes.
The actual retail price is expected to be around 19,980 yen including tax.
Elecom direct sales are offering a pre-order price of 16,800 yen including tax for a limited time.

Ultra-compact trackball “bitra” – reissued in white with additional white and multi-connection support

Announced on the same day, “bitra” is a reissue of the portable trackball that was introduced in 2019.
Approximately two years after the previous model was discontinued, it will reappear with enhanced mobile applications, including support for multiple connections and the addition of a white housing.
KawamuraThe only compact and portable trackballs available are the bitra or Nakabayashi’s Digio2, so I am very happy to see this reissue.
- The most compact trackball in Elecom’s history
The body is approximately 30% smaller than the company’s existing trackball series and is designed to be carried around. Shaped similar to a standard mouse. - Two lineups of thumb-operated/index-finger-operated types
The thumb type has an operating feel similar to that of a normal mouse, while the index-finger type takes advantage of the finger’s range of motion. Both are designed with silent switches to reduce clicking noise. - Ball eject button & dedicated pouch included.
The structure allows easy removal of the ball from the back of the main unit for easy maintenance. A dedicated pouch made of shock-absorbing material is included, and spare batteries can be stored together.
The actual in-store price for both models at BITRA is 12,980 yen including tax.

Lineup of replacement balls for each product

Another topic of this release is the availability of replacement balls and support units for each product as well as the main unit.
- For bitra, silver replacement balls with diameters of 25mm and 34mm have been newly developed, and the company claims that they have adopted a coating layer and color that makes it easier for the sensor to detect movement. Since model numbers are available for both thumb-operated and index-finger-operated types, the configuration can be used for a long time by replacing the ball according to the usage environment.
- In addition to the standard bearing support unit, replacement bearing units and artificial ruby units are sold separately for HUGE PLUS.
The fact that the trackball itself is not a complete product, and that “official parts for consumable parts are properly prepared” is a reassuring factor for users who want to use the same input device for a long time.
….
In the context of homebrew keyboards, many of you may be exulting, “Finally, an option other than the red 25mm sphere!” Many of you are probably rejoicing.
KawamuraSpring has finally come to the cocot38mini that we carry.
summary
These are some of the new products introduced by Elecom.
The two models in this double release, large and small, gave the impression of clear segregation according to work style.
- In a stationary environment, HUGE PLUS + full size/HHKB, etc.
Large balls + palm rest to reduce wrist strain while switching between multiple PCs with multiple connections – a configuration suitable for desk-resident use. Combined with silent switches, it may fit in a home/work space. - A notebook PC + compact keyboard + bitra completes the mobile environment.
For those who don’t want to add to their luggage but still want to use a trackball… bitra is the answer.
Both are certified under Elecom’s “THINK ECOLOGY” eco-conscious standard, and their efforts to reduce the amount of plastic in their packaging are also typical of the recent trend in peripherals.
Now, we were talking about keyboards are good, but trackballs are also good.
