Recently, a number of “skeleton keycaps” have appeared on the market, made of completely transparent ABS material that allows LEDs to pass through.
One of the most notable is the Asimov keycap, which Keyreative sells in stock.
The familiar Cherry profile is used, and you can choose your favorite one from as many as seven different colorings, and the “dot-like legend” is very attractive and different from other keycaps.
Let’s take a quick look.
As for the keycap, it was provided by Keyreative for promotional purposes.
The exterior comes in a simple black paper package that looks like this.
Let’s start with Cyan color.
The keycap, which looks like a jewel, is truly beautiful and transparent.
The dot-style printing also gives a very cool impression.
In this case, I installed it on a keyboard called cool838ax.
We use a top case in a similar color that we prepared for this keycap.
For the keyswitch, we chose Gateron Northpole because we wanted to emphasize transparency.
If you want to bring out the transparency of the keycaps, transparent key switches would look better.
Next, let’s look at Atomic colors.
This is also a very colorful purple color.
One of the most attractive aspects of Asimov is that the modifier keys are icons rather than legends.
Atomic installed on an Akko ACR TOP 40.
It is a QAZ custom, so the placement is a bit special.
Durock Black Lotus key switches were chosen to match the keycap color.
The key switch has an LED diffuser, so the light is concentrated on the south side and glows beautifully.
Thus, if the LED color is also unified with purple, it will create a very fantastic desk.
Summary|The definitive transparent keycap
These are the Asimov keycaps that we have reviewed.
Although transparent keycaps are becoming more common in other companies’ products, the drawback is that the famous products are not sold in stock and are produced in limited quantities, making them very difficult to obtain.
In addition, it is priced moderately and is not readily available for purchase, which is a major obstacle.
On that note, Asimov sells all colors in stock and is inexpensive at $55.00 per set.
Personally, I believe that the first choice for transparent keycaps is Asimov by Keyreative.
