On January 10, 2025, NuPhy updated its official X to announce the release of a new product, the Kick75.
The catch phrase is “the world’s first hybrid low-profile keyboard.
What exactly is meant by a hybrid profile?

About the hybrid profile “NuPhy Kick75
Let’s make a prediction based on the public information available at this time.
First, from the number “75,” we can infer that it is probably a “75% layout model” with function keys.
The image here shows that it seems to support two key switches.
This is probably supported by the use of a Gateron LP 3.0 switch.
Gateron LP 3.0 is a new low-profile mechanical key switch used in NOS75.
The footprint shape is compatible “only in the pin position” with the Cherry MX standard for normal profile key switches, with the characteristic of a 0.4mm thicker foot in the center.
Therefore, if a board is compatible with Gateron LP 3.0, it will theoretically be able to hook up a normal profile keyswitch.
However, even though the footprint is the same, the height to the switch plate may be different, and there may be an appearance issue that when normal profile key switches are installed, the key switches are exposed when viewed from the side with the skirt for normal profile.
We have discussed the discomfort in this area in a previous article.
I can’t speak to the switch plate issue, as I don’t own an actual NOS75, but it seems that the skirt issue can be solved with a custom frame.
From this image, it appears that the skirt frame can be attached without any discomfort when used with the normal profile, even when the normal profile is attached.
Summary|Will this be the new keyboard that recovers the foreshadowing in NOS75?
This is all the information we have at this point, but as the official website announces, “There will be more exciting information next week! on the official website, so we are sure that they will continue to release information in “small steps” as they always do.
As for the NOS75, the world’s first NOS75 with Gateron LP 3.0, it has already sold out, probably due to the limited number of units produced, and there seems to be no momentum for remanufacturing.
There are various standards for low-profile keyboards, with incompatible footprints, making keyboard designers and users weep.
As for the NOS75 with Gateron LP 3.0, I think everyone expected that it would be compatible with normal profile key switches and that it could be used in low profile as well. I think everyone expected this to be the case, but many people were disappointed that this was not the case.
This foreshadowing at NOS75 should be recovered at Kick75.
Let’s wait for further information.
