Review of the exclusive 3DP case for torabo-tsuki(S)(M) now available from Kobo Hal

After all, keyboards look cool in a case.

Recently, the left-right split keyboard with trackball, a derivative of the Keyball, has become very popular.

You may have noticed that recently there have been a number of smaller keyballs that have been making the rounds, such as moNa and roBa, which are compatible with wireless technology.

However, we should not forget torabo-tsuki.

torabo-tsuki is a “Keyball-sized” fully wireless left-right split keyboard with trackball, released by Sekigon, the developer of BLE Pro Micro.

Three types of series exist, depending on the number of keys.

Perhaps the most revolutionary feature was the ability to move the trackball position.

However, some may think the look is a bit rugged because of the conventional sandwich construction of FR4 materials.

We recommend the 3DP case produced by Kobo Hal to such torabo-tsuki users.

In this article, we would like to introduce the case for torabo-tsuki.

As for the special case, it was provided by Kobo Hal for promotional purposes.

Review] 3DP Case for torabo-tsuki(S) by Hal

Koubou HAL handles torabo-tsuki (M) and (S) cases. Please visit the official sales site for case details.

Let’s take a look at the actual product.

Let’s start with the complete system.

To match the black texture, Cannonkeys x Keyreative PBS Blanks Black keycaps and MX ERGO genuine ball were chosen for the trackball.

Hmmm, this is great.

The structure of the case is a mounting image in which the screws on the bottom of the completed torabo-tsuki are removed and the case is “fitted” as it is.

The variable trackball position mechanism of torabo-tsuki probably influenced the use of this structure.
torabo-tsuki has a rail-type trackball socket screwed into FR4 on the bottom, which allows fine adjustment to the left or right.
In order to take advantage of this mechanism, it was probably decided that the FR4 plate on the bottom should not be removed.

It’s very textured.

As for 3DP products, I have the impression that there are many overseas products with noticeable lamination marks or inadequate molding, but I have no such concerns with this case.

It also covers all the side gaps, a weak point of the conventional torabo-tsuki.

Also, the thickness of this side wall is very nice.

It’s a wonderful sense of massed perfection.

Let us now look at the details of the case.

Let’s start with the battery case.

The main reason I fell in love with the Kobo Hal case is that the batteries do not show.

As for batteries, again, most commercial products inevitably have “patterns,” and it is difficult to find ones that emphasize looks, such as the “black eneloop” that once existed.

In this respect, this case covers the battery case space itself.

The neodymium magnets are used to stick them together, and it is wonderful that no tools are required when replacing them.

In the photo, some of the magnets were missing, but we fixed them after this.

This battery case cover also serves as a USB terminal cover for the BLE Pro Micro.

Since torabo-tsuki is a fully wireless keyboard, it is reasonable to cover the unused terminal area for aesthetic reasons and to prevent the intrusion of pride.

Next, let’s look at the power switch section.

In a normal torabo-tsuki, the power switch is located on the side.

However, with this case attached, on/off operation is possible from the front.

This idea is really great.

In addition, torabo-tsuki actually has a place on the board where a TRRS jack can be mounted, so a wired connection can be used for left-right communication.

To accommodate this, there is a hole for a cable connection, which shows the careful consideration that has gone into the design.

This time, we had the new GREENKEYS logo specially printed on it.
I will use it carefully.

These are some of the torabo-tsuki cases available from Kobo Hal.

The fact that there are many “fan products” that can update existing products like this is one of the attractions of the home-built keyboard community.

Currently, torabo-tsuki is “out of stock” and may be difficult to obtain.

Also, the case is currently “out of stock”, but if anyone wants one, why not contact us through the “Kobo Hal” inquiry form?
