Several years have passed since magnetic keyboards first appeared on the market, and the initially heated “spec competition” has settled down.
Trends include “8000 Hz polling rate,” “wired connection rather than wireless,” and “adjustable sensitivity in 0.01 mm increments” are becoming mainstream.
Now that competition in terms of specifications has settled down, we are finally starting to see products that focus on the “feel” and “look” of the keyboard, which are the joys of the “keyboard” itself.
The Wobkey Rainy75HE/RT is truly a keyboard that represents the “second phase” of magnetic keyboards.
This article will review the Rainy75HE/RT, focusing on areas other than its specifications.

High performance rapid trigger
Rapid trigger setting accuracy is very high, allowing setting between 0.01-1mm in 0.005mm increments.
Japanese-language web driver for setting up
The keymap can be changed and the magnetic switch can be configured using web software instead of installed software.
Keymap change web app: https://www.wobwxe.com
In addition, by pressing “FN+C” you can change presets for keymaps, performance settings, lighting settings, etc., allowing you to instantly change settings depending on the game and operating system.
Ultra-low latency input of 8000 Hz
With a polling rate of 8000 Hz, theoretically there is a delay of only 0.125 ms from input to operation.
This allows quick actions to be taken instantly in gaming applications.
4 Layer PCB
Normally, keyboard boards are designed with two layers, but the Rainy75HE/RT has four layers to improve interference prevention.
Dedicated USB cable with 3A graphene for aviation
The attached cable seems to be made of a material called 3A graphene, which is used in aviation.
This will improve the stability of data transmission, electric manufacturing, and heat tradition performance.
Surround gasket mounting mechanism is used
Although the detailed mechanism is not mentioned, it seems to be designed so that the board is sandwiched between silicon rubber and the case, which allows the board to flex when struck.
In addition, the Rogers high-performance foam contributes to a comfortable key feel.
Compatible with many magnetic switches
In addition to the two types of keyswitches used by default (Gateron Jade Pro and TTC KOM RGB), the following keyswitches are also supported.
- Gateron Jade Pro
- Gateron Jade
- TTC KOM RGB
- TTC KOM
- IYX Magnetic Amplitude Axis
In addition, more compatible keyswitches are likely to be added through future updates.
In many cases, magnetic keyswitches cannot be used due to their magnetism, even if they are compatible with the board, so it would be great to see support for a variety of keyswitches in future updates!
Wobkey Rainy75HE/RT in photos
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the actual Rainy75HE/RT.
The HE Pro model provided as a sample this time is the HE Pro model with Gateron Magnetic Jade Pro switches.
Let’s start with the outer box.
The appearance is almost identical to that of the standard Rainy75.
However, it seems much heavier than the regular version.
Open the package and check the contents of the box.
contents
- Hard pop mount
- handling instructions
- Key switch puller/keycap puller
- Dedicated USB cable (Type-A to Type-C)
- Sample key switch (TTC KOM RGB)
- body (of a machine)
Let’s start from the whole.
It has a 75% layout, with the function keys independent, and the arrow key in the lower right corner is tucked in the same position as the bottom row.
The print has a very distinctive shape and is colorful throughout.
The keycap material is PBT and the printing method is sublimation printing.
The keycaps appear to be quite thick-walled.
There is no blotting in the printing.
The profile is a Cherry-like step-sculptured style.
The use of polycarbonate translucent keycaps as accents in places is also very impressive.
All Arrow keys are polycarbonate keycaps.
LEDs are transparent and very beautiful.
The “cloud and rain symbol” that firmly symbolizes “Rainy” is also still in place.
Let’s also look at the reverse side.
A gorgeous stainless steel “ice crystal” weight is present on the reverse side, with the familiar cloud symbol.
Perhaps to improve the appearance, there are no screw holes on the surface, and disassembly of the unit is likely to be accessed from the back.
On the back is a simple USB port.
There are no other key switches, etc.
The full aluminum body gives the impression of being simpler and easier to manufacture. This is probably the reason why the preset switching is also operated on the keyboard side.
Typing angle is about 7 degrees.
The tilt angle is fixed and there is no tilt leg.
Let’s also look at key switches.
The one we selected was Jade Pro, but it also came with two TTC switches.
The TTC has a box stem and is quite different in appearance.
The height of the key switches themselves also differed, with the TTC seeming slightly taller.
As described below, Jade Pro is a switch with a Thocy tendency, while TTC KOM is a switch with a Clacky tendency.
The characters are quite different, but I feel that Jade Pro is probably the one that the Japanese prefer.
Perhaps the most significant difference between the models bearing the Pro designation is the use of carbon fiber for the keyswitch plates.
Personally, I prefer the bouncy reaction of carbon fiber.
If a plate option is available, we usually choose carbon fiber. The bouncy feel is addictive.
Advantages of the Wobkey Rainy75HE/RT
- Magnetic keyboard with the most pleasant keystroke feel and sound.
- Very high satisfaction due to the sense of weight and metallic mass
- Great overall look.
- Performance is of course first class.
Magnetic keyboard with the most pleasant keystroke feel and sound.
First, watch this video.
…Yes, it sounds crazy good.
Until now, magnetic keyboards have had a very strong “clinking” feeling compared to mechanical keyboards, and many of them sounded “like a toy” compared to mechanical keyboards.
In addition, in many cases, top-mounted switches with hard switch plates such as aluminum with little transmission loss were used because of the emphasis on “high response speed,” and I got the impression that many of the keys felt as if they were hitting a cutting board.
However, with the Rainy75HE/RT, we were able to experience a completely different dimension of keystroke feel and sound.
The gasket-mounted structure and the use of sufficient sound-absorbing material resulted in a more “dead” and “thocky” key feel and sound, as we believe.
Many people may be captivated by the sound of the mechanical version of the Rainy75, which has a more compressed “rain-sounding” keystroke sound.
See this video for a comparison with the mechanical version of Rainy75.
Very high satisfaction due to the sense of weight and metallic mass
See!
This aluminum lumpy look is full of outstanding looks.
The body of the Rainy75HE/RT is made of 6063 aluminum alloy, so everywhere you look on the body you see “metal.
As a result, it is very heavy, weighing approximately 2 kg, and is unlikely to shift while typing.
It will also sit on your desk with a dull “thump” sound.
The texture and weight will surely satisfy you.
Great overall look.
Rainy75HE/RT has a very beautiful rugged, basic appearance.
In particular, the exquisite width of the edges and the margins around the case further accentuate the texture of the aluminum.
The coloring of the keycaps and the body is also consistent, and is so beautiful that just looking at it is enough to establish it as a single piece of interior design.
Performance is of course first class.
Needless to say, its performance as a magnetic keyboard is excellent.
The fact that a gasket-mounted structure can be used with such responsiveness is truly astonishing.
Disadvantages of the Rainy75HE/RT
After all, where there are advantages, there are naturally also disadvantages.
The disadvantages of the Rainy75HE/RT as I perceive them are as follows
- Different keyswitches offer different keystroke sounds and textures.
- Keycap not selectable depending on type
Different keyswitches offer different keystroke sounds and textures.
This is really an area where there are differences due to personal sensitivities, so please take this as a “personal opinion” only.
As for the keyswitches that can be selected for the Rainy75HE/RT, they are completely different in character.
Jade Pro definitely has a “thocy” sound that the Japanese like.
KOM RGB, on the other hand, has a “cracky” sound, as favored in China and the United States.
If you ever imagine buying a mechanical keyboard version of the Rainy75 for its typing sound, I would definitely recommend the model with Jade Pro switches.
Keycap not selectable depending on type
Unfortunately, the Rainy75HE/RT does not offer flexibility in the choice of preferred keycaps, plates, and weights.
Difference between Pro and Lite
Pro | Lite | |
---|---|---|
keycap color | multicolor | gray (SI unit of absorbed dose of radiation) |
Keycap Material | Dye-Sub PBT+PC | Double shot PBT |
plate (often as in “tectonic plate”) | carbon | FR4 |
weight | Stainless steel ice crystals | mirrored glass |
body color | Natural Gray, Galaxy Silver | Natural gray only |
For example, users who prefer a chic look will surely want to choose gray keycaps.
However, in that case, the forced plate would be FR4 and the weights would have no choice but to choose mirror glass instead of stainless steel.
It would be better if only keycaps were sold separately.
summary
This is our review of the Rainy75HE/RT.
Most of these magnetic keyboards are purchased for gaming use, but the Rainy75HE/RT can be enjoyed for normal typing use as well.
The speed of response of magnetic keyboards is particularly effective with respect to typing applications.
The new experience of “typing and getting letters as soon as you type” allows the user to enjoy the feeling of faster typing.
As your first magnetic keyboard, the Rainy75HE/RT will be perfect for you.
Please consider purchasing!
