In the years following Corsair’s acquisition in 2023, the Drop e-commerce site will be transformed into a branded hub.
In an official announcement, “The Next Step for Drop,” Drop announced that effective March 31, 2026, Drop will cease operations as a standalone e-commerce store and will proceed with integration under the Corsair umbrella.
The last order date is March 25 at 11:59PM PT, and unused Drop Rewards must also be used by that date and are expected to expire thereafter.
Drop.com will be transformed into a “hub” for introducing collaboration, and products will migrate to Corsair.com and partner channels.

Drop goes from “store” to “hub of collaboration
The Drop began as a community-driven initiative in 2012 and has expanded over the past 13 years to become a “place of co-design and discovery.
The announcement is that the Drop will “cease to be a stand-alone e-commerce store” and move to a hub within the Corsair ecosystem to announce and highlight collaborations.
In the future, Drop.com will handle curated releases, including licensed collaborations such as The Lord of the Rings/Cyberpunk 2077/Fallout Nuka Cola, and will focus on limited runs and exclusive announcements.
In addition, the following details were announced
- Store ends 3/25 (PT): if you want something, you must purchase by last order (3/25 at 11:59PM PT).
- Drop Rewards expire: Unused Rewards must be used by the same date. After the expiration date, they cannot be used.
- Existing reservations and orders will be shipped: Drop clearly states that “existing orders, including reservations, will be fulfilled as scheduled.
If you are unsure, it is safe to save your order number and email receipt. - Go to Corsair for Warranty Contact: Go to Corsair Customer Service for warranty and product support. Your existing warranty will be honored.
Drop says that “the audio file/keyboard community is not going away,” and that Drop Discord will be maintained as a place to continue the conversation.
It seems that the change in the Drop is simply “Corsair’s reorganization of sales locations,” with the understanding that the “place of sale” will move, but the “place of community” will continue. The “place of sale” will move, but the “place of community” will continue to exist.
Drop products will be available on Amazon and other retailers
The announcement states that “many Drop products” will continue to be sold through Corsair and partner channels, citing CSTM80 and some licensed products as examples.
Corsair.com / Amazon / Best Buy are clearly listed as places to purchase.
As for the availability of Drop products from Japan, it is not very good at this time.
The shipping is from the home country of the U.S., which is a considerable burden in terms of both time and shipping costs.
We will need to look closely at the availability from Japan in the future.
The Future of MT3 Profiles
A very big concern for many keyboard fans, including the author, is what will happen to the MT3 profile.
The designer of the MT3 profile is undoubtedly Matt3o.
Behind MT3 is the “complexity” of the overlap between the designer’s concept and the reality of mass production and distribution (contracts, molds, and sales channels).
Matt3o himself candidly recalls the adjustments that had to be made during the design and prototyping process, as well as during the company’s own schedule and circumstances.
Although Drop as an e-commerce site will disappear, the supply and deployment of MT3 may continue to depend on Corsair’s sales structure for some time to come.
summary
After 13 years as a community-oriented store, Drop is moving on to the next stage of Corsair integration.
I feel that the keyboard genre is now approaching a “transitional period” both in Japan and around the world.
In many cases, the starting point for designers and creators is to first “give form to what they believe to be ideal,” and in many cases, they work in the order that “compensation is generated as a result of the spread of sympathy and support.
However, commercialization and mass production take time and money, and there are areas where individuals alone cannot make it happen.
It may be true that there are aspects of the product that reach more people if companies are involved to fill this gap, and if a system and sales network are in place.
On the other hand, as companies focus on continuity and profitability, the axis of decision-making changes, and the initial “temperature of the place” and the feel of the community may gradually change.
Comparing the year 2012, when we started as massdrop, to the year 2026, it is clear that the way products are made and the community has changed dramatically.
As Greenkeys, we will continue to carefully follow this “hard-to-see change in atmosphere” as well.
These changes do not mean that the value that designers and communities have built up will be lost.
