JLA Badge Usage Guidelines

1. Purpose

The JLA badge is not an official certification mark, but rather an indication to assist self-declaration based on voluntary guidelines established by the Japan Layout Alliance (JLA), a private organization.

We are not affiliated with any official standard or certification system such as JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) or JISC (Japanese Industrial Standards Committee).

The JLA badge is designed to assist in external representation based on self-declaration of the compatibility class JLA-450 / JLA-425 for the bottom row of Japanese keyboard layouts.

2. Terms of Use

  • May be used on product pages dealing with your company’s products. (Cannot be distributed or sold to third parties).
  • It is recommended that product pages clearly indicate information (product name and model number) that identifies the subject product.
    • Product page” means a public page on which a third party can check information about the product, regardless of the platform on which the product is listed (e.g., in-house e-commerce, e-commerce mall, crowdfunding, etc.).
      (e.g., official website, in-house e-commerce, product pages on Amazon/ Rakuten market, etc., crowdfunding project pages, product pages of authorized distributors, etc.)
  • Only use badges that match the class designation. (e.g., a JLA-425 badge is not allowed for JLA-450 products).
  • Color modification, aspect ratio changes, or deletion/combination of elements are not allowed. (Only size changes are permitted).
  • If possible, link the badge or text notation to the JLA page.

3. Credits

  • No copyright notice is required on the badge image itself.
  • If necessary, please include “JLA Badge © Greenkeys / GreenEchoes Studio” at the bottom of the page (optional).
  • If possible, please insert a link to the top of the JLA page in the “JLA Badge © Greenkeys / GreenEchoes Studio” section.

JLA compliant labeling (recommended format)

For the purposes of this guideline, the following format is recommended as an example of the display on a product page

This product follows
Japan Layout Alliance (JLA) guidelines and is JLA-xxx compatible.
(e.g. 4.25u space bar compatible = JLA-425)

JLA-xxx codes mean compatible classes in the JLA definition.

4. Prohibitions

  • Uses that are false or misleading.
  • Use with media that violates public order and morals, or with illegal content.
  • Expressions that imply JLA or Greenkeys guarantees product quality.

5. Revocation

If false representation or a guideline violation is confirmed, we will suspend publication and revoke usage permission at our discretion.

Badge Usage Details

Color / Background

  • Basic colors: Black (for light backgrounds) / White (for dark backgrounds)
  • Background must be solid color or low-noise photo. Contrast ratio of at least 8:1 is recommended.
  • Color inversion allowed: Only black⇔white inversion permitted. No arbitrary coloring or gradients.
  • Transparent version (SVG) only as provided. No borders or drop shadows may be added.
