JLA (Japan Layout Alliance) is a private voluntary organization and has no relationship with public organizations such as JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) and JISC.
The status is displayed as either Founding (founding member) / Participating (participant) / Review (review participant).

For companies considering participation
The hurdles to participation are set low. You can start by checking the contents as a “Review Participant”. No design changes to the current product are required, and participation is possible as long as the existing dimensions fall under either JLA-450 or JLA-425.
Participation in the JLA is voluntary and no product or brand will be disadvantaged by not participating.
A standard reference source is a specialized business that has prepared keycap dimensional drawings and other information based on a request from JLA. The dimensional drawings are based on JLA’s verification of the dimensions of space bars with a common denominator of 4.5u/4.25u that exist in the Japanese market. Please understand that the dimensions are not unique and are only in accordance with the 4.5u/4.25u space bar currently in circulation.
