From Crowdfunding to General Sale
The MD770 PRO was offered through GREEN FUNDING from July 24 to August 30, 2026, and received support from 113 backers.
The main difference from the crowdfunding campaign is that the keyboard is now available as a regular product from the domestic distributor.
Product pages are available through Princeton’s official online store, as well as its Rakuten and Yahoo! stores. The keyboard also comes with a one-year warranty from the domestic distributor.
Greenkeys covered the MD770 PRO’s features and differences from previous models when the crowdfunding campaign launched.

A 75% Split Keyboard with a CNC Aluminum Case

The MD770 PRO is an 83-key mechanical keyboard whose two halves can be positioned separately.
It retains the standard row-staggered layout while including function keys and dedicated arrow keys.

Unlike a column-staggered layout or a 40% keyboard, it does not require a major change in how you type. That makes it a split model that should be relatively easy to move to from a conventional keyboard.
However, the lineup is available only in an English layout, which may limit its appeal to users in Japan.
The case is made from CNC-machined aluminum.
Whereas the previous MD770 RGB BT had a plastic case, the MD770 PRO has been upgraded to a full aluminum case.

The two halves weigh approximately 1,325 g combined.
Its design prioritizes stability and a premium feel on the desk over portability.
It also comes with rubber feet for adjusting the angle, supporting both a front-to-back incline and tenting that raises the inner edges.

Wired, 2.4 GHz, and Bluetooth Connectivity
There are three connection options:
- USB Type-C wired
- 2.4 GHz wireless
- Bluetooth 5.0
It also supports multipoint pairing, allowing you to switch between up to three devices.
The keyboard can connect to a computer wirelessly, but the two halves are connected to each other with a USB Type-C cable.
KawamuraThe fact that the two halves are not fully independent wireless units may be a matter of preference.
VIA and Hot-Swap Support

The MD770 PRO supports VIA, letting you change the keymap, macros, layers, and more in a browser.
Alongside the start of general sales, Princeton has also made a JSON file for VIA available on its product page.
The PCB is hot-swappable, and the switches can be replaced with Cherry MX-compatible switches.
The keycaps are PBT double-shot caps compatible with the Cherry profile, and the keyboard supports RGB backlighting.

Conclusion | An Aluminum Split Mechanical Keyboard with a Japanese-Layout Version on the Horizon
That’s our look at the MD770 PRO.
Among 75% split keyboards with aluminum cases, the following models are its competitors.
Competitors: 75% Aluminum Split Keyboards
| Model | Price | Profile | Giteki certification | Main connection options | Connection between halves | Layout options | Features / status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mistel MD770 PRO | From ¥38,980 | Standard | Certified | Wired / 2.4 GHz / BT | Wired | English only (Japanese layout application submitted) | Giteki certified (official domestic product). A refined take on a classic, with a familiar layout that makes it easy to switch to. |
| NocFree & | $269.00 | Low-profile | Certified | Wired / 2.4 GHz / BT | Wireless | Japanese / English / ISO | Slim (26 mm) aluminum case. Supports JIS layout with a refined, Apple-inspired design. |
| Keychron Q11 | ¥42,900 | Standard | — | Wired only | Wired | English only | Wired-only. |
| Keychron Q11 Ultra 8K | $239.99 | Standard | Not certified (as of October 10, 2026) | Wired / 2.4 GHz / BT | Wireless | English only | No Giteki number for Japan has been confirmed at this time (use wireless features with caution). Supports 8K. |
As shown above, these are the three competitors in the highly niche category of aluminum-case, 75%, split keyboards.
Although the MD770 PRO uses a wired connection between its two halves, it may have an advantage over its competitors in that it is Giteki certified and available through a domestic distributor.
The MD770 PRO’s Giteki certification page also includes the following entry:
Type or designation of the specified radio equipment certified under the Construction Design Certification: MISTEL; Model: MD770 PRO, MD770 PRO JIS, MD770 Plus, MD770 Plus JIS, MD770 Ergo, MD770 NEO
In other words, the editorial team believes a Japanese-layout version of the MD770 PRO is likely to be made available in the future.
The certification page also confirms that derivatives such as the Ergo and NEO are in the pipeline.
For those looking to try a split keyboard without making major changes to their familiar layout, the MD770 series looks like a strong option—though it’s worth noting that the two halves are connected by a cable.
Mistel’s next moves will be worth watching.
