In the mechanical keyboard area, the need for “low-profile models” has been increasing in recent years.
As expected, there are fewer variations of replacement keycaps compared to the Cherry MX standard due to the fact that it is still in its infancy.
In this context, NuPhy, which releases the pioneering Air Series of low-profile mechanical keyboards, has introduced a very cool keycap.
This article reviews the NuPhy Cymatics nSA Profile Dye-sub PBT Keycap.

For low-profile key switches compatible with NuPhy Cymatics nSA Profile Dye-sub PBT keycaps
To begin, we will share the keyswitches that fit the Cymatics nSA Profile Dye-sub PBT keycap.
Greenkeys has investigated and found the following conformity with the following low-profile key switches.
key switch | fitting | remarks |
---|---|---|
Gateron LP 2.0 | ◎ | conform |
Gateron LP Magnetic Jade Series | ◎ | conform |
Lofree x Kailh choc v2 | ○ | Slightly tight but usable |
Kailh choc v2 | ○ | Slightly tight but usable |
choc v1 | × | Not available because the shape is not a cross. |
Since the Gateron LP series keyswitches are used in the NuPhy Air series, the fitting seems to have been adjusted accordingly.
The “Kailh choc v2” standard keycaps that have become popular in recent years also have cross-shaped stems, but the cross shape is slightly thicker than that of the Gateron LP series.
Therefore, keep in mind that NuPhy keycaps tend to be slightly tighter when attached to Kailh choc v2 series.

Let’s take a look at the actual keycaps, with photos.
It is a familiar paper package.

White is the base color, and navy blue and emerald green are the accent colors.

Opening.
It contains two tiers of plastic trays.

It has 117 keys and roughly corresponds to 60%, 75%, and 96% layouts.
However, as for the Air60HE, it does not fit because the lower right hand corner of the keyboard is aligned according to the common 60% size keyboard.
Please note
As a side note, I was the first one to insroll the Air60HE without reading the instructions thoroughly, and at the last minute, when I tried to fit the right Shift key, I realized it was not long enough and was unable to recover for about an hour. Please be careful too.

The nSA profile Cymatics keytop contains a total of 117 keys and is compatible with NuPhy Air60, Air75, Air96, Air60 V2, Air75 V2 and Air96 V2. It is also compatible with other low-profile mechanical keyboards with the following layouts: 60 / 75 / 96.
Let’s look at the details.
The keycap theme is inspired by the Sound Wave Alphabet.
A joint project between NuPhy and Suda, the Cymatics keycap set is an experimental design that focuses on the composition of the relationship between the visual and acoustic aspects of the keys. Design highlights include key engravings inspired by the five Chardy patterns and a waveform character representation inspired by Jessica Normile’s “Sound Wave Alphabet. Each of these waveforms represents the sound of the corresponding letter and is placed below the key engraving. The individually recorded waveforms are further pixelated to match the letter fonts. The overall color theme is a combination of indigo + turquoise + white, which creates a science fiction atmosphere. As for the color layout, we chose to reverse the traditional “in-white” layout. This not only reinforces the visual impact, but also allows the most important waveform of this keycap set to stand out.

I did not understand what he was talking about at first, but it seems to be a work in which “A to Z” pronounced by himself was converted into data and defined as “letters”.

Thus, the digital data for pronouncing the alphabet is printed under this distinctive font.

When I look at this keycap with this background in mind, I really feel it has a lot of depth.

The fine lines and elegant printing on the accent keycaps also give a good impression.

The attention to detail is also excellent, with rounded corners only on the keycaps at the position where they come to the “edge” when installed on a NuPhy keyboard, as if they were all molded from the same mold.

All keycap printing is Dye-Sub (sublimation printing).
The printing was clear with no color bleeding, and the homing key was also printed very cleanly.

That’s what KeyTok is all about!

The keycap receptacle is shaped for Gateron LP 2.0, so it is slightly tight when installed on choc v2.

Let’s go ahead and replace the keycap.
We start with NuPhy Air60v2.
The colorfulness of NuPhy’s keyboards is impressive, but when put together with cold colors like this, it becomes much cooler.

The black frame matches well, giving the keyboard a crisp impression.

After all, keycaps make a big difference in the personality of a keyboard.

Put it on your desk.

After all, the impression is quite different when you actually put it on the keyboard.
This unique digital wave pattern has a very nice taste.

Then, let’s look at an install roll on a Corne v4 chocolate mini with Lofree x Kailh choc v2.
You can see that the wave pattern is a good accent even in a tangled staggered layout.

This is highly satisfactory.

Summary|NuPhy Cymatics nSA Profile Dye-sub PBT keycap buy

This is our review of the NuPhy Cymatics nSA Profile Dye-sub PBT keycap.
As for low-profile mechanical keyboards, while the advantage of being able to use them without a palm rest is significant, they have fewer replacement keycaps than normal-profile mechanical keyboards with regular Cherry MX key switches.
With that said, NuPhy’s replacement low-profile keycaps are a very good option.
If you’ve been looking for quality, stylish replacement keycaps for your low-profile mechanical keyboard, you’ve come to the right place.
