Available in Japan from NuPhy Japan with technical compliance
Priced at $149.95 for the wired-only model and $169.95 for the tri-mode wireless model, they are relatively inexpensive.
The Gem80 is NuPhy’s first mechanical keyboard with an 80% tenkeyless size.
Since the base is a barebone, the model is much more customizable than previous NuPhy products, requiring the selection of preferred keyswitches and keycaps.
Designed for a thocky sound, it is equipped with six layers of sound-absorbing material and four different mounting methods, allowing for a very wide range of user customization.
Wired-only models are available in the lineup, so there is no need to worry about technical compliance in Japan.
Available in five colors: Opsidian Black, Mystic Indigo, Cosmic Mocha, Inca Rose, and Airy Lilac.
The base model is a barebone, and switches can be freely selected as options.
It may be better to set up a keyswitch set and a keycap set that can be purchased at the same time, since each can be purchased inexpensively.
Extra plates are also available for purchase.
The frame material is CNC-machined 6063 aluminum, and the back is a polycarbonate material to facilitate wireless connection.
The six layers of sound-absorbing material are expected to result in a very thocky keystroke sound.
The sound-absorbing material installed consists of three layers of Poron sheet, IXPE damper, Xtramer, and silicone sheet, for a total of six layers.
The Omini-Mojo mounting system is used, with four mounting types to choose from: silicone socket gasket, silicone bean gasket, silicone strip gasket, and top mount using screws and silicone.
The default plate is FR4, but other options include aluminum, polycarbonate, and POM as extra plates.
The keycaps feature the newly developed mSA profile.
The keycaps are Cherry-like with different heights and slopes in different rows, but feature a spherical design with a depressed center.
Homing keys such as FJ have a physical protrusion as well as a process that allows LEDs to penetrate.
Keycaps will be made of double-shot PBT material
The spacebar uses Ghostbar, which has a quiet silicone according to the mSA profile.
Two wireless connection methods for tri-mode wireless models: 2.4 GHz using a USB dongle and Bluetooth 5.1
In the 2.4 GHz band, the polling rate is 1000 Hz.
The wired connection method is USB Type-C as before.
Compatible with QMK/VIA
Hot-swappable
In addition to three new keyswitches, the original mint (37gf linear), raspberry (46gf linear), and lemon (55gf tactile), which were jointly developed by NuPhy and Gateron, there is a choice of silent red clear top (45gf silent linear), which was developed with Cherry Available.
The Bokeh series desk mats in similar colors are also available in five colors.
The keyswitches available for selection are three types of keyswitches: the original mint (37gf linear), raspberry (46gf linear), and lemon (55gf tactile), newly co-developed by NuPhy and Gateron, plus the silent red clear top, developed with Cherry ( (45gf Silent Linear).
