The MX ERGO, in particular, has a strong following as a “masterpiece” and has become a major player in the thumb trackball world.
However, it was released 7 years ago, and it does not have “Type-C”, which is now the mainstream, but rather “micro-B”, which is a disappointing specification.
On certain auction sites, Type-C modification boards were being sold as doujin custom parts.
It also did not have a silent switch, and even taking into account the advantages of form, a magnetic tilt plate, and a form that fits easily in the hand, it still had a strong “outdated” feel to it.
The update points of the ” MX ERGO S ” are as follows
- Click noise is reduced by about 80% by changing to a silent click.
- Equipped with Type-C terminal
- Supports Type-C to Type-C fast charging, 24 hours of use on a 1-minute charge
- Battery up to 120 hours
- Support for “Logi Bolt
- Smart Actions” macro registration function of “Logi Options+” is supported.
The most significant point is probably the Type-C installation.
Nowadays, there are really few people who have micro-B charging cables.
Also, the silent click is a nice touch.
However, I personally got the impression that it was not enough.
Frankly, if it had been languishing for seven years, it would have been nice to have a clearer point of update.
- Change of body material -> It gets a little sticky while using it. Our MX ERGO is a little bit…
- Change in trackball support mechanism -> Is the bearing model now in vogue…?
- High speed wheel -> If MX Master 3s has it, I want this one too.
- Variation of trackball operation -> Can’t you achieve horizontal scrolling or something with the trackball operation…?
- Variation of slope -> slope still only one level…?
- Are there any more replacement balls…? →I know there is a lot of demand for replacement 34mm balls….
For me personally, I honestly believe that after seven years, I would have liked to see more updates, both software and hardware-wise.
I’m sure many of you feel the same way….
In the meantime, fans need to make reservations.
