NocFree’s social posts are drawing attention.
On April 17, 2026, the keyboard brand “NocFree” updated its official X account and posted a desk setup photo.
Its super clean look resonated with people, earning nearly 200 likes.
The keyboard in the post is the split ergonomic keyboard “NocFree &”, currently available for pre-order.
Along with ANSI and ISO, KR and JIS are also available as layout options, making it a product Japanese keyboard fans will want to watch.

Key features include tri-mode connectivity (Bluetooth / 2.4G / wired), a low-profile design, a gasket-mount structure, and an aluminum-focused build.
Of course, you can also change the keymap, and it looks like you can edit the keymap, lighting, and macros in their own web app, “link.nocfree.com“.
On top of that, it uses a “Japanese layout,” covering all the hottest keyboard trends right now.
What really stands out is that it offers multiple layouts—including JIS—right from the start.
On the product page, it’s described as “Layouts that feel instantly familiar” and “Multiple layouts designed for different regions. Less relearning. More doing.”—positioning not only ergonomics, but also the ability to choose a region-familiar layout, as part of the appeal.

Plus, the gasket mount structure should provide a really comfortable typing experience.

In a split-keyboard market that tends to be built around English-speaking users, having a Japanese layout available from day one feels like pretty big news for Japan’s keyboard scene.
There are also plenty of options, like a wireless numpad, a vertical charging dock, and a tenting stand—it’s a really well-rounded package.

You can choose between linear and silent linear switches.

| (data) item | NocFree Rime | NocFree Mist |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Linear | Silent Linear |
| pressing pressure | 40±5 gf | 37±5gf |
| Pre-travel | 1.2±0.3mm | 1.3±0.4 mm |
| Total travel | 3.2±0.4 mm | 2.5±0.2 mm |
| Positioning | Standard linear | Silent Linear |
From a keyboard-nerd perspective, this is the first time I’ve seen a total travel of 2.5 mm.
For low-profile switches, around 2.8 mm is pretty standard, so this might be positioned like a “speed” switch in the low-profile lineup.
At the moment, the Japanese-layout version comes in two colors: black and white.

The ANSI layout comes in seven colors.

The pre-order price is $269, and the regular price is $349.
Shipping has already started, and new orders are listed as expected to ship in May. A hard-shell case is included as a pre-order bonus, and they say they’ll offer a full refund as long as it’s before shipment.
What’s interesting about NocFree & isn’t just that it’s a “split ergo” board.
By offering multi-region layouts including Japanese from the start—and pairing that with tri-mode connectivity, a low-profile design, an aluminum unibody, and even silent options—it feels less like a sharp-edged experimental device and more like a split keyboard designed to fit easily into everyday work setups.
It’s also a product worth watching in terms of how far it can broaden the split-keyboard audience.
