On April 22, 2026, Mode Designs released a design commentary on their new mounting mechanism, the “Crown Mounting System.”

This content explains the background of the new mechanism featured in the recently announced Encore 2026.
In the published blog post, Mode Designs positions the Crown Mounting System as their new mounting architecture.

At its core are wave springs and a “tuned isolation stack” that controls vibration and movement. The goal is to achieve a balance of “stability without discomfort,” “responsive rebound,” and “clean sound with suppressed resonance.”
The article also touches on the trade-offs often found in conventional mounting methods.
For example, it notes that while rigid mounting provides stability, it tends to lead to stiffness and metallic echoes. Conversely, while soft mounts may sound better, they often result in a muddy and inconsistent feel.
Mode Designs explains that they developed this mechanism with the following three goals in mind:
- stable without harshness
- responsive without mush
- clean sound without resonance
The Crown Mounting System was originally designed for the Prologue and was further refined during the development of the redesigned Encore.
This commentary serves as a follow-up, where the manufacturer further articulates the intent behind the new mechanism that was highlighted in the Encore 2026.
Of course, what has been released so far is strictly Mode Designs’ own design commentary.
As for the actual typing feel and sound quality, we’ll need to see how users evaluate it in the future.
At Greenkeys, this is the first time we’ve seen content that reveals such a dedicated process for perfecting the typing experience.
Understanding the background of a product can really deepen your attachment to what you own.
Our interest in the Encore 2026 continues to grow.
