On May 8, 2026, Teikoku Databank reported that Diatec Corporation, known for its FILCO brand keyboards, received a bankruptcy proceedings initiation decision from the Tokyo District Court on April 30, 2026.
Liabilities are currently under investigation.
Diatec announced the termination of its business operations on its official website on April 22, 2026.
Greenkeys also recently covered this matter in an article documenting what FILCO / Majestouch left behind in the Japanese mechanical keyboard market.

According to the Teikoku Databank article, Diatec was established in June 1982 and specialized in PC keyboards, primarily developing its own original brand “FILCO” products.
The company reportedly handled wired and wireless keyboards, numeric keypads, custom-made keyboards, replacement switches, wrist rests, maintenance supplies, and keyboards from overseas brands.
The company had sales channels through PC-related product distributors, major electronics retailers, and online retailers, and also conducted direct sales through its own website.
While the company recorded annual sales of approximately 1.434 billion yen in the fiscal year ending September 2016, annual sales for the fiscal year ending September 2024 had declined to approximately 800 million yen.
Additionally, factors cited as contributing to the deteriorating business environment include the company’s recent reduction in handling keyboards other than its own brand to improve profitability, stagnant orders following the end of the stay-at-home demand during the COVID-19 pandemic, and poor sales performance in China in recent times.
This report clarifies that Diatec’s closure was not simply a voluntary termination of business, but rather followed a bankruptcy proceedings initiation decision.
However, the significant footprint that FILCO / Majestouch left on the Japanese mechanical keyboard market remains unchanged.
In particular, the company’s efforts to bring mechanical keyboards to general users through electronics retailers and online retailers, and its long-running Majestouch series featuring CHERRY MX switches, will continue to live on in the memories of fans.
