Chosfox’s 40% low-profile mechanical keyboard “Init40” with a row-staggered layout was announced to go on sale on August 25, 2026.

With a width of 12u, it’s extremely compact, and portability is being promoted as one of its key appeals.
What you’ll naturally be curious about is how its size compares with the 40% low-profile mechanical keyboard “Geonix Rev.2.5,” a 12u ortholinear model that was already on sale.
In this article, we’ll check the difference visually.

Chosfox Init40 vs. Geonix Rev.2.5: the Init40 is slightly larger
Based on the published size chart, the Init40 appears to be slightly larger.
That said, the difference is only marginal.
Here’s what it looks like when overlaid.

As you can see, when you overlay the Geonix Rev.2.5 centered on the Init40, the Init40 is about 2 mm larger in both width and depth.
So it’s fair to consider them essentially the same size.
| Comparison Item | Init40 | Geonix Rev.2.5 | Differences / features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Layout type | Lowe Staggered | authorolinear | Key arrangement differs |
| range (e.g. of voice) | 240mm | 235mm | Init40 is 5 mm wider |
| depth | 87mm | 83mm | Init40 is 4 mm longer |
| Front height | 17mm | 16mm | Init40 is 1 mm taller |
| Rear height | 20mm | 16mm | Init40 is 4 mm taller |
| Weight | 490g | 490g | Same |
The weight is the same at 490 g.
As for case thickness, because the Init40 has a 5° typing angle, it’s built higher at the back and lower at the front.
So compared with the flat Geonix Rev.2.5, it’s +1 mm at the front and +4 mm at the back.

In other words, there’s a good chance they can share the same carry case.
Keycap legends revised
Also, after checking with Chosfox, we learned that some keycap legends were revised from the initially published images.
Before the revision, the top row on the right read “DEL,” “BACKSPACE,” and “ENTER,” but after the revision it was changed to “BACKSPACE,” “ENTER,” and “SHIFT.”

Two Chosfox models that broaden your small-keyboard options.
It’s the kind of pair you’ll want to own in both layouts.
