On April 29, 2024, Cannonkeys, in accordance with schedule, began pre-ordering the ALTAIR /ALTAIR-X, a left-right split keyboard with the ai03 design, through vendors worldwide.

The vendor in Japan will be Yousha Kobo as originally planned.

The deadline for pre-order submissions is June 3, 2024, and if the MOQ is not reached, the product may not be manufactured.

Also, please note that although you can cancel your reservation during the reservation period, you will be required to pay a cancellation fee of 5% of the scheduled payment.

The shipment is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025 (between January and March).

Yousha Kobo says Q1 2024, but it is most likely a typographical error.

The most noteworthy thing about the product is its price.

The price at the home office is $300-315, which translates to approximately 46,500 yen to 48,825 yen when converted to 155 yen to the dollar.

Greenkeys’ estimate was 50,000 yen to 53,000 yen, but the price is much higher than that.

The Altair-X full kit is 54,450 yen (56,320 yen (tax included) for E-White) and the Altair full kit is 57,200 yen (58,960 yen (tax included) for E-White).

Add to this a foam kit, a dedicated keycap, and a dedicated wrist rest, and a rough estimate is that the cost will surely be more than 70,000 yen.

I think ai03 will be at the Cannonkeys booth as a staff member at Tenkey Vol. 6, so I am hoping that perhaps he will be able to touch the actual device.
I would like to see the actual machine before making a decision.
Hmmm, I hate the weak yen.
