Another keyboard that caught my eye.

On April 4, 2026, Atelier Magnus updated their official X account to announce the Group Buy (GB) start date for their new 60% keyboard, the “Slate Zero.”

The price is set at $223.00, and the available vendors are as follows:

  • Prototypist | UK
  • Keebzncables | Australia
  • Geonworks | South Korea
  • Aiglatsonstudio | Thailand
  • ktechs | Singapore
  • Soi Gear | Vietnam
  • Typist Club | China
  • Mecha Malaysia | Malaysia

Regarding colors, the official X post suggests a planned lineup of five colors.

The standout feature of the Slate Zero isn’t just the 60% layout; it’s the “Zero” design philosophy that has been thoroughly implemented.

The product page lists details such as a symmetrical 60% layout, a true 0-degree typing angle, an aluminum unibody, silicone gasket mounting, QMK/VIA support, and a PCB compatible with both hot-swap and soldering.

A 5-degree riser is also available if needed. The idea seems to be starting flat and adding a slight angle only if necessary.

This riser also looks quite cool.

While the bottom decoration is simple, the back features a physical OS toggle switch and a USB Type-C port, accented by a stylish, high-design copper cover.

The specifications are also interesting.

The case materials are Anodized 6063-T6 Aluminum and decorative Copper, with a built weight of 1.35 kg. Plates are available in FR4, PC, and Alu, with carbon fiber offered as an option.

Furthermore, it supports ANSI/ISO multi-layouts and includes Split Backspace support, which is a welcome feature for HHKB layout users.

ISO support is quite rare. You can properly add a key to the right of the left shift, next to the Z key.

As far as current information shows, the connection is wired-only. Since this doesn’t trigger technical compliance (Giteki) issues in Japan, there should be few major barriers to personal importing.

The attention to detail in the specs is impressive.

With a silicone gasket structure designed for a premium typing feel and a choice of four switch plate materials, this is a perfect entry point into the custom keyboard rabbit hole for HHKB layout users.

Although we haven’t been tracking it closely at Greenkeys, it appears this product is being released after a significant development period.

Looking at the timeline on the product page, it started with the Concept & Design reveal in September 2025, followed by a public prototype display at the MKVN Meetup in December 2025, and reached the Pilot Build stage by March 2026.

Regarding the brand’s position, the official site lists the Country/region as Malaysia, so it’s safe to view them as a Malaysia-based brand, at least in terms of operations.

For those in Japan, it might be easiest to purchase through vendors like Geonworks in South Korea.

The HHKB layout, which originated in Japan, has now spread worldwide, with its minimal key layout being adopted by keyboard brands across the globe.

The “Slate Zero” released by Atelier Magnus will likely appeal to HHKB ANSI layout users who appreciate minimalist elements.
