質問内容は、新しいキーボードに採用する標準レイアウトの他に、HHKBレイアウトは必要ですか？というものです。

「欲しい」「必要ない」「試してみたい」の3択となっています。

  • bottom rowのキーの数｜左端1キー、右端2キーがない
  • 右シフト｜長さが1.75uとなり、右シフトキーの右側にFnがある
  • 数字行｜Backspaceキーが2つに分割され、「| \」「~ `」キーへ変更/「~ `」が「Esc」へ変更
  • 「| \」｜Backspaceキーへ変更
  • CapsLock｜Controlキーへ変更

キーボードビギナーにとっては、アンケートの内容自体がかなり難易度が高いかもしれません。

HHKBに関しては、2026年で30周年を迎えるキーボードとなっており、そのキーレイアウトは世界中で知られています。

一方で、世界的なANSIレイアウトユーザーから見ると「変わったキーレイアウト」という見方をする人も少なくないようです。

このあたりは、海外のキーキャップデザイナーさんやブランド、ベンダーさんに聞きましたが、やはりこのキーレイアウトは英語圏では「癖」があり、好みが分かれるというのが実際のところだそうです。

実際に、HHKBレイアウトにするとなると、PCBをマルチレイアウトにする、専用トップケースを作成する、専用キーキャップを用意するなどの工数が発生します。

一方で、HHKBに関しては日本に多くのユーザーが存在し、累計出荷台数の約8割が日本というデータもPFUから公開されています。
