Finally, it has landed in Japan.
Cornix LP is a low-profile mechanical keyboard with a 40% left-right split column staggered layout with a 40% column staggered layout that was GB at Yousha Kobo from May 23 – June 5, 2025.
It attracted attention as a Corne-type derivative keyboard with full wireless connectivity, and arrived in hand on October 8.
Originally scheduled to arrive in July 2025, the shipping date was delayed due to the need to obtain technical certification not only for the wireless module but also for the main unit.

As for sales, Jezail Funder Japan’s official online store will start selling the product on October 11 at 10:00 a.m.
Having used mechanical keyboards with various column-staggered layouts, the Cornix LP may be close to perfection in some ways.

Let’s take a look at the actual device.
The keyboard set comes in a special cardboard box like this one.
There are no instructions included in the package, and the instructions can be found online by scanning the QR code.

As for the label on the back, it is all in Japanese.

The manufacturer is Key Zoufang Electronic Technology Co.

In most cases, Chinese companies separate the corporate name for domestic use and the brand name for international use.
The literal translation is “Keyboard Studio Electronics, Inc.
For international customers, the name will be “Jezail Funder”.
The Japanese distributor is Touchen LLC, located in Taito-ku, Tokyo.
The Japanese reading is “toki” and the Chinese reading is probably Táo Xī.
The fact that “Prebuild” is checked means that there may be barebone models, except for the Japanese model.
There is a solid technical mark.

The molded array print is fashionable.

When the cardboard is opened, the top section contains a long, narrow cardboard for accessories, and the keyboard is stored in a two-tier structure in the space below it.

The keyboard is encased in a special urethane foam that is hollowed out along the outer diameter of the keyboard, so there are no scratches.

Contents include keyboard (left and right), microcomputer changing mat, spare side rubber feet, Type A to C cable, replacement keycaps, key switch/keycap puller, and two key switches (Kailh White Rain).
Keyboard, keyswitches, and keycaps are already installed.

The special pouch (sold separately, 990 yen (tax included)) is a bargain, and you should buy it if you are likely to carry it with you.

Four keyboard case colors are available.

Note that black and white have keycaps with LAK profiles (matte texture that does not transmit light), while red and purple have LCK profiles (transparent and transmits light).
The shape of the keycap is very different.
I purchased the black color.

The vertical shift spacing is similar to that of the original Corne, but it has a one-handed 24-key configuration with two central key switches missing, one rotary encoder on each side, and three additional key switches in the bottom row.

Keycaps are LAK profile.
The material is PBT and the key tops are UV printed.

The print is clean with no blotches at all.

The multicolor printing area is also very beautifully finished.

The basic shape is cylindrical (cylindrical cylinder with arched keytops), and only some thumb-operated keys are convex (with raised top surfaces).

The sidewalls are thick-walled, and the molding accuracy of the cross-stem receiver is also fine.

The plate material is FR4 (possibly 1.2 mm thick).

The keyswitch uses Kailh choc v2 Spring Mini (total travel: 2.8±0.25mm / actuation travel: 1.2±0.30mm / actuation force: 40±10gf).

Click here to see the keystroke sound.
The light bottoming sound is pleasant.
However, the noise is likely to be slightly annoying when used in a quiet office, so a quiet linear switch is recommended if you will be using it frequently when away from home.

Our recommended quiet keyswitch is the Lofree Void.
Coupon code “ryo10” for 10% off.
LED indicators are built in around the thumb keys to check various signals.

We originally planned to apply for technical conformity only for the wireless module, but since we submitted an application for the entire unit, we can now use it with greater peace of mind.

The side of the keyboard has a Type C connection port on the back portion and an on/off switch for BT connection.

When both switches are turned on, a wireless connection item will appear on the PC.

The LED indicator and microcontroller cover parts are probably machined polycarbonate parts, and they look quite luxurious.

Let’s look at the reverse side.
Aluminum boty is still beautiful.
The distinctive structure of the bottom is the tenting leg.

It can be adjusted in 5 steps of 0, 6, 12, 18, and 24 degrees.

Even when the tenting is raised, there is no risk of shifting, as the side rubber nonslip stops it quite snugly.

Although sold separately, there is also a lineup of four types of dedicated replacement keycaps, each available for 3,800 yen (tax included).

About keymap changes
Cornix LP can change the keymap with a wireless connection.
Access “Vial” from Chrome or other browser and click “Start Vial”.
If you specify Cornix on the following screen, you can move to the screen for changing the keymap in Vial.

important point
- Wireless connections tend to be unstable, so if this does not work, make a wired connection from the USB port on the left keyboard with the BT switch turned on to change the keymap.
- MOD-TAP related settings are disabled in V1.6, implemented since V1.7.
- Some MOD-TAP related settings are still limited in V1.7, but they will be developed gradually.
- The method of firmware update from Vial described in the initial manual is likely to fail. The method of pressing the reset button is reliable.
Benefits of Cornix LP
- Safe to use due to technical qualification
- Completely wireless, so it can be used in any location and on any device
- Low profile keyboard eliminates the need for a palm rest
- Excellent cost performance
- Supports wireless keymap changes using Vial
- Tenting leg attached to the body
Safe to use due to technical qualification

Cornix LP is technically certified and can be used with confidence.
In order to use a wireless device in Japan, it is necessary to obtain a “technical standards conformity certification” under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and the “user” is subject to penalties if this certification is not obtained.
- Article 4 of the Radio Law states that “a license is required to establish a radio station,” and devices without a Gikitei mark are basically considered “unauthorized radio stations.
- Therefore, if a user emits radio waves, it is considered “illegal establishment of a radio station” and is subject to penalties (e.g., imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 1 million yen) for violation of the Radio Law.
- If a seller misleads consumers into believing that “equipment that cannot be used in Japan” can be used in Japan, the seller may be in violation of Article 38-37 of the Radio Law (violation of labeling obligations, etc.) and the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations.
- However, if the product is “merely imported and sold,” it is not immediately illegal as long as it is not used, and the seller’s responsibility is mainly related to “inadequate labeling or explanation.

Some mechanical keyboards made overseas may not have obtained technical certification when they arrive in Japan, but Cornix LP has obtained technical certification, so you can use it with peace of mind.
This is a very significant advantage for using a keyboard with a wireless connection.
Completely wireless, so it can be used in any location and on any device

Corne provides a fully wireless connection not only between the PC and the keyboard, but also between the left and right sides of the keyboard.
In other words, it can be used without any cables at all.
Therefore, it can be used not only on so-called “PCs” such as Windows and Mac, but also on devices such as iPhone and iPad.
It is particularly compatible with the iPhone and iPad.
You will enjoy the typing experience in a state-of-the-art style with the iPad in the center and the Cornix LP on either side of it.
Low profile keyboard eliminates the need for a palm rest

Cornix LP is a mechanical keyboard with low-profile key switches and can be used without a palm rest.
The Cornix LP seems to be particularly useful for on-the-go use, and eliminating the need to carry a palm rest would be a great benefit.
Excellent cost performance

This is the first finished keyboard with a machined aluminum case and fully wireless connectivity among the many keyboards we have reviewed.
It is truly astonishing that a product with such a high level of technology can be sold for less than 30,000 yen.

Such niche-oriented products are relatively common in the home-built keyboard industry, but they tend to be expensive because they are manufactured in small lots.
I felt that the company’s ability to offer this at this price is a testament to its manufacturing capabilities.
Supports wireless keymap changes using Vial

Cornix LP allows users to change the keymap to their own liking using a web application called Vial.
Usually, in most cases, this mechanism requires a USB cable connection between the keyboard and the computer.
It would be very convenient to be able to do that “without leaving the wireless connection”.

Personally, this is the first time I have encountered a keyboard with wireless connectivity and a changeable keymap.
Tenting legs are attached to the main unit, so no preparation is required

The Cornix LP comes pre-equipped with aluminum tenting legs.
Therefore, the advantage is that there is no need to prepare a separate tenting leg.
What is tenting?
Tenting refers to tilting the keyboard from a palm-down direction to a direction that opens the thumb outward.
It is said that many people find it easier to type because they are able to type in a ball-holding position, which slightly changes the way they move their fingers.
Disadvantages of Cornix LP
- Some latency due to wireless connection is a concern.
- MOD-TAP settings are not full options
- Column staggered array a bit hard for beginners.
- Unique decoration of microcomputer cover decorative parts and some keycaps
Some latency due to wireless connection is a concern.
Although this may only be felt by those who normally use a wired-connected keyboard, some may still be concerned about the delay (latency) between typing and having the text reflected because of the Bluetooth connection.

I am the type of person who cares a lot because I usually use a wired connection keyboard with a polling rate of about 500Hz-1000Hz.
This is not limited to Cornix, but to BT-connected keyboards in general.
List of polling rates for wired connections
Pauling rate | Polling interval | Worst delay | mean delay |
---|---|---|---|
125 Hz | 8.0 ms | 8.0 ms | 4.0 ms |
250 Hz | 4.0 ms | 4.0 ms | 2.0 ms |
500 Hz | 2.0 ms | 2.0 ms | 1.0 ms |
1000 Hz (1 kHz) | 1.0 ms | 1.0 ms | 0.5 ms |
2000 Hz (2 kHz) | 0.5 ms | 0.5 ms | 0.25 ms |
4000 Hz (4 kHz) | 0.25 ms | 0.25 ms | 0.125 ms |
8000 Hz (8 kHz) | 0.125 ms | 0.125 ms | 0.0625 ms |
List of BLE polling rates
Connection interval (ms) | Polling rate conversion | Worst delay | mean delay |
---|---|---|---|
30.0 ms | Approx. 33 Hz | 30.0 ms | 15.0 ms |
15.0 ms | Approx. 67 Hz | 15.0 ms | 7.5 ms |
11.25 ms | Approx. 89 Hz | 11.25 ms | 5.63 ms |
7.5 ms (minimum typical value) | Approx. 133 Hz | 7.5 ms | 3.75 ms |
MOD-TAP settings are not full options

Personally, when typing on these small keyboards, I make full use of the “MOD-TAP” function, which assigns a layer key to the space key, to perform typing.
The “MOD-TAP setting” is important at this time.
Although added since v1.7 firmware, the option choices differ slightly from Corne v4.

This may be a bit inconvenient, especially for a hasty typist like me, who uses “Ignore Mod Tap Interrupt” (a function that prioritizes tap judgment to prevent typing errors) as the key to typing.
(Well, I’m not particularly troubled by it, as it’s largely a matter of getting used to it.)
In addition, some functions are limited due to the capacity of the MCU.

These may be addressed in a firmware update if you make a request, so if you have any concerns or bugs, please report them here.
Column staggered array a bit hard for beginners.

As you can see, Cornix is a keyboard of the so-called “special sequence” genre.
In other words, it is a vertical shift (column staggered) layout rather than the usual “horizontal shift (row staggered),” which may present a slightly higher usage hurdle for keyboard beginners.
In addition to the process of refining the keymap to make it easier for you to use, you will also need to get used to the vertical shift fingering, so “practice” will be necessary for a while after purchase.

It would probably take about a month of practice, about an hour a day, to be able to use it at normal typing speed.
Well, it could be said that people who find joy in the process of suffering and in becoming able to do so through practice are suited for this job.
Unique decoration of microcomputer cover decorative parts and some keycaps

This may be largely a matter of taste, but from the perspective of someone living in Japan, some of the decorative designs seem a bit foreign.
As for this, it is just a personal subjective thing, and since we have also taken care that you can choose not to use it if you dare, you may not have to worry about it that much.
Conclusion|Cornix is one of the column staggered keyboards

This is our review of Cornix.
As for column staggered layout keyboards, it is true that there has been some interest in them, but many of them require assembly with a self-made keyboard kit, or you have to provide your own keycaps and keyswitches, which is a higher hurdle to introduce.
In addition, most models do not support wireless connectivity, which is a common feature of “normal” keyboards, and even if they did, firmware installation and settings are often complicated, so many people may have given up on the idea.
All of these hurdles have been eliminated with Cornix.
We appreciate the fact that the product is truly innovative in that wireless connectivity can be used immediately by simply opening the package, turning on the Bluetooth switch on the left and right keyboards, and configuring pairing settings.
It is also technically qualified and is a quite valuable product that can be purchased at an affordable and suitable price.
We invite you to take on new challenges at Cornix.
