Examples of Items Prohibited from Display and Sale

  • Items that contain or come with a rechargeable battery
  • A keyboard designed to operate exclusively on rechargeable batteries, not intended to be powered by primary batteries or connected devices, that does not include a built-in or bundled rechargeable battery, and for which the purchaser must purchase rechargeable batteries separately

Potential Impact on the Exhibition of Wireless Split Keyboards

At Keyket, we have showcased numerous wireless split keyboards and trackball-equipped input devices created by independent designers.

Some of these products contain built-in small lithium-polymer batteries.

As a result, this change is likely to have a significant impact on some DIY keyboard communities.

Realistically, I get the feeling that there are probably many DIY keyboards that would require a design change from lithium-polymer batteries to primary battery power.

Recently, I’ve also been paying close attention to the emergence of DIY keyboard components that comply with Keyket regulations, such as the “XIAO nRF52840”—which is frequently seen in DIY keyboard designs—and the “XELBO Prototype (Nogikesuya),” which features a similar keypad layout and can be powered by dry-cell batteries.

It’s great that, with a footprint equivalent to the XIAO nRF52840, it makes it easier to achieve low-power operation using a single dry-cell battery.
