PBT” material is becoming a major material for keycaps in recent years.
Although more expensive than the ABS material that has been widely used in the past, it has superior oil and abrasion resistance, and is popular for its “kotokotoko” sound when struck.
As is customary in the past, PBT material has a “matte texture,” and few keycaps have been given a glossy finish compared to keycaps made of ABS material.
In this context, the KAM ERROR keycap was introduced.
It is a gloss-finished keycap made of “PBT material” with a very beautiful jet-black luster.

Overview of Keyreative KAM 404 ERROR
404 Error is a keycap designed by Keyreative designer “ICE”.
This cute keycap set features Google’s beloved “T-REX” motif.
The key profile used is the “KAM profile” licensed by Keyreative, which is characterized by a spherical shape with a depressed key top surface and a flat profile with uniform height in each row.
The feature of “uniform height” is especially useful for keyboards with “different modifier key positions for different users,” such as small keyboards.
Perhaps in line with this, we also have a “40s Kit” lineup with a very large number of convex keys, which we highly recommend to Japanese small keyboard users.

Keyreative KAM ERROR in photos
Let’s take a quick look.
This time, we were provided with Base Kit and Dino alpha kit.
The Base Kit consists of three trays.
Alpha key-centered set.
The base color is glossy black, and the legend is represented in fluorescent green.
As for the printing, the horizontal noise-like “displacement” is attractive and reproduces the Internet space well.
The printing method of the keycap is not specified, but it probably has the appearance of a glossy coating based on sublimation printing.
The “character shift” is not uniformly applied to all keys, but rather is applied here and there, which I think is very effective in creating the “uneven noise of the Internet world”.
With so many modifiers available in the base kit alone, it is likely that the Alice kit will be sufficient.
The beauty of the luster can be clearly seen when photographed from different angles.
If the background of the photo is changed to black, the glossy effect can be seen more clearly.
Really, this keycap is very beautiful.
Note, however, that dust adhesion is still a concern and must be removed with the supplied cloth or wipe.
When photographed from the side, one can see that the slope is uniform across all rows.
This is a really nice specification for small keyboard users!
Now let’s see some pictures of the installation on the actual keyboard.
This time we installed in bully and Corne.
bully’s case is sumiso’s original acrylic laminated case.
The center is opened for 2u and Dino alpha is used in the center due to the QAZ operation.
The great thing about the KAM profile is that it can be used in this way because there is no per-row slope limitation.
The fluorescent green legend looks great on the glossy exterior.
It would be nice to have a 2.25u/2.75u space bar in the base kit.
Other than this, most small keyboards could be assembled by purchasing a 40s Kit.
A shot from an angle that shows the luster.
This is beautiful.
Next is the crazy Dino alpha kit.
The concept of an alpha key is no longer present on this keyboard.
Everything was ruled by dinosaurs.
As one would expect, few people use Dino in this way, but it is possible to unify all keys to Dino if you want to do so.
You should try it too.
summary
This has been a review of the KAM 404 ERROR released by Keyreative.
Nevertheless, Keyreative’s keycap manufacturing technology is excellent and very beautiful, not only with regard to double-shot but also sublimation printing.
In addition, we take our hats off to the technology that creates a glossy look that is unthinkable from conventional PBT materials.
We invite you to express this one-of-a-kind look on your keyboard as well.
