On March 26, 2024, Taiwanese keyboard brand VORTEX KEYBORD updated its official X to announce that it is developing a new Core V2, the second 40% keyboard the company has released.
core is a 40% size mechanical keyboard with 47 keys.
For the first generation core, ArcSight Inc. was the distributor in Japan, but it is no longer available in Japan.
However, the original VORTEX continues to sell the product, and a version with RGB backlighting is also available.
I bought a used Core, disassembled it, and replaced the keyswitch with a new one. I remember that it had a hole for RGB.
However, it is also true that the limited ability to change the keymap made it difficult to get used to the idea of typing without fitting into that mold.
Although the custom firmware created by volunteers allows the keymap to be changed freely to some extent, it is still a keyboard with a “regrettable” feel that cannot be denied because Tap-Hold is not available.
In addition to supporting QMK/VIA, the new Core V2 appears to support wireless connectivity.
The keyswitches used have been changed from MX compatible to “low profile” and the keycaps are (at this time) white or black blank keycaps.
The release date and price have not yet been determined, and the name is also “tentative,” so it may not simply be Core V2.
That brings us to this IC.
