On May 7, 2026, Yushakobo announced an upcoming group buy for Atelier Magnus’s new custom keyboard, “Slate Zero.”
The GB starts on May 13, and orders will be accepted until May 31.
Slate Zero is a custom keyboard featuring a 60% layout and an aluminum case, created by Malaysia-based design studio “Atelier Magnus.”
Greenkeys previously covered the start of the global GB for Slate Zero, and this time Yushakobo will be joining as the vendor for Japan.

Atelier Magnus has also been active in Japan, including showcasing a unit in Shinjuku during Golden Week, so it’s likely the GB was arranged to coincide with this visit.

A 60% keyboard defined by a 0-degree typing angle

Slate Zero’s standout feature—true to its name—is its “0-degree” typing angle.
You can also attach optional parts to create a 5° typing angle, combining practical usability with a clean look.

In the Japanese context, another big point is that it uses an HHKB-like 60% ANSI-based layout.
The default layout is standard ANSI-based, and it also properly supports split backspace.
Unlike the original HHKB layout, the left and right spacing on the bottom row is even—likely a design choice for a symmetrical look.
It’s also worth noting that the keys on both sides of the spacebar are 1.5u.
Based on the layout, the spacebar appears to be 7.0u.
(The original HHKB layout is 6.0u.)

On top of that, with its aluminum case and familiar “HHKB-like” layout in Japan, it’s a must-see for compact keyboard fans.
There used to be HHKB models with aluminum cases, but they’re currently difficult to get.
The typing feel will likely differ from electrostatic capacitive switches, but it looks like a rare chance to experience a gasket-mount build.

Open at Yushakobo until May 31 | In-store display unit also planned
With Yushakobo handling it this time, users in Japan will be able to join the Slate Zero GB through Yushakobo.
The global GB window was relatively short, but for Japan, Yushakobo will accept orders until May 31.
Yushakobo also says they’d like to offer chances, as much as possible during the GB period, for people to try a display unit in person.
If a hands-on display happens, it should be a valuable opportunity to check the 0-degree typing angle and the case finish before deciding.
A model worth watching for Japan’s compact keyboard users, too
Slate Zero isn’t a typical mass-produced mechanical keyboard—it’s a concept-driven model that feels very much like a design-studio custom.
In Japan especially, there’s strong ongoing support for compact keyboards like the HHKB, and there’s a steady user base that prefers 60% layouts and minimalist design.
In that sense, Slate Zero isn’t just another overseas GB—it’s a model with real potential to resonate with Japanese keyboard users as well.
That said, since it’s a GB product, it differs from regular in-stock sales—so be sure to carefully check the sales page in advance for details like lead time, specs, and whether cancellations are allowed.
summary
Atelier Magnus “Slate Zero” is a highly design-focused custom keyboard featuring a 0-degree typing angle and a minimalist 60% layout.
With Yushakobo running the GB for Japan this time, it’s now much easier for domestic users to participate.
Orders are open until May 31, 2026.
If you’re into compact keyboards, HHKB-style layouts, or minimalist aluminum boards, it’s worth taking a look.
Yushakobo’s GB page is currently being prepared.
Once the GB opens, we plan to share updates via Greenkeys’ official X and our content as well.
