GATERON PRO ULTRA GLORY SWITCH Overview
GATERON PRO ULTRA GLORY SWITCH has two types of push-pressure key switches, with different spring lengths and number of windings, and different stem colors.
The Red switch has a short total travel of 3.6mm and a push pressure of 45g, which is a standard weight for a linear switch, while the Yellow switch has a slightly longer total travel of 4.0mm and a push pressure of 50g, which is heavy for a normal linear switch.
Consideration of keystroke sound by different materials
The top housing is translucent and the bottom housing is opaque gray, and as for the LEDs, they seem to leak from the gap between the bottom and top housings.
Generally speaking, when the spring is weakened, the pressing pressure is reduced, and the relative pressing force is increased, giving the impression of a loud and crackling sound. The stem of the Red switch is made of soft POK (polyketone), while the Yellow switch is made of POM.
Actual keystroke sound
We compared keystroke sounds using different types of keyswitches.
Let’s start by listening to the sound of Cerakey (ceramic keycaps).
When Cerakey is attached, the sound is often quite hard, but I had the impression that the hard core sound became slightly milder due to the effect of the keyswitch characteristics.
Next, let’s listen to the sound of a keystroke with a keycap made of PBT material.
These are single-shot PBT keycaps, which means that the keystrokes are muted but still slightly soft.
On the other hand, with the double-shot PBT keycaps, you will notice that the Domikey keycaps we chose have a solid core and tight typing sound, partly because the Domikey keycaps we chose are quite thick.
