The simplicity of the product is a great example of a great sense of how to use accent colors.
KAP WoB is the second keycap set in the KAP series sold by Sanyo Godo Kaisha as an authorized distributor in Japan.
The coloring is a big change from the first KAP Generation, a set of simple black keycaps, the so-called “WoB” style keycap set.
At first glance, they may look like “ordinary keycaps,” but they are a special set of keycaps with a strong sense of satisfaction from owning them.
This article reviews the Keyreative KAP WoB.

[Photos] Keyreaitve KAP WoB Review

Let’s take a look at KAP WoB using actual photos.
The KAP series uses a newly designed “plastic case” instead of a plastic tray.

The keycaps are designed to fit snugly so that they do not move during transportation, so they do not fall apart when opened.
It is engraved with the mark of the KAP series conceived by designer Kapowaz.
This wave pattern is also very beautiful.

Actually, my name is on it because I was involved a bit in the design phase.

Now let’s open the package.
The keycaps consist of two tiers, with the first tier containing 75% equivalent keys and the second tier containing special keys and a numeric keypad and other optional keys.

After all, the important thing with these keycap sets is whether they fit the layout of the keyboard you are using.
It is nice to see the inclusion of a 1.75u size backspace key and a 1u size “| backspace” key to support Split 2u Backspace like the HHKB.

Multiple sizes are included for the shift key, and even a smaller enter key is provided.

The space bar also includes a short space bar of 2.25u/2.75u, which is often used in Alice layouts, and a 7u size following the 6.25u size that is usually used, so the ability to accommodate a wide range of layouts is a major attraction.

It is also important to note that the keycap includes a 1.5u size MOD key, which has very few examples of adoption as a keycap.

In Japan, this would be great for Corne users.

Accent keycaps are also very stylish.
In addition to these, many other unique icons have been adopted, and it is surprising that all of them are double-shot molding.

Double-shot means that the mold for each key is made from scratch. The production of molds is very expensive. The fact that such a large number of keys are made from scratch from a mold shows how much passion Keyreaitve has put into this keycap.

We will look at the engraving on the keycap.
The colored portions are sublimation printed, while the white lettering is sculpted by double-shot, a so-called “hybrid configuration.

There is also nothing to complain about the backside modeling.

You can clearly see that yellowish print, which is difficult to color, is also printed perfectly.

In general, ABS tends to produce better colors than sublimation printing because the material itself can be used, but the beauty is completely unrivaled.

Now, let’s attach it to an actual keyboard.
The keyboard employed in this project is the Mode Designs SixtyFive.
It is interesting to note that this part alone makes it just a WoB, but when viewed as a set with the accent key caps, it gives a very different impression.

After all, the accent colors applied by sublimation printing look very good.

The accent colors chosen are exquisite and not too assertive, making it very fashionable.

At a quick glance, it appears that the yellowish-green Pantone used for the enter keys, etc. is slightly different between the production version and the sample version we are reviewing here.

Perhaps the production version should be closer to green.

Personally, I like the coloring seen from this angle.

Summary|KAP WoB is a must-have item

This has been a review of the KAP WoB, which is scheduled to be marketed by Keyreative.
As we mentioned at the time of KAP Generation, it is an amazing cost performance to purchase such a high quality double-shot PBT keycap decorated with sublimation printing for only 10,000 yen.

From the communication about the keycap design and the production process, I believe the price is the result of reducing the man-hours involved by making it easier for the designer to add to the standardized base design.
This is a keycap that was created to set a new standard for the WoB color keycap, which has long been popular as a basic design.
