On April 20, 2024, NuPhy updated its official X to announce the release of its new Halo96v2 keyboard.
New images are added as they are posted each day.
According to the posting, the announcement is scheduled for April 23, 2024, with no indication as to whether that date is the start date for pre-orders or the release date.
Our forecast specifications are as follows
- April 23, 2024 Reservations begin
- Updated version of the first version released on November 26, 2022
- Not sure about the price, but looking at Halo75v2 it looks like it will remain unchanged.
- The color lineup is expected to be 5 colors like Halo75v2 (Obsidian Black, Ionic White, Mojito, Blue Lagoon, and Sakura Fizz)
- We expect that the key switches available for selection will also be new (mint, raspberry, lemon, and silent cherry).
- Keycap profile will likely be changed to original mSA as in Gem80
- Expected to support QMK/VIA and allow keymap changes
- Change from top mount to gasket mount?
- More sound-absorbing material is also installed than in the previous model, which is expected to take the form of more thocky keystrokes.
With only a little over two weeks having passed since the Halo75v2 became available for pre-order on April 2, this year’s product announcements have been high-pitched, with a series of new key capes being announced.
There has been quite a buzz at the zFlontier event, and I’ll be keeping an eye on NuPhy this year.
