What’s new in Geonix 2.5
The key updates from “Geonix 2.0” appear to be the three points below.
- Vial support
- Improved bottom row layout
- Updated case materials
More customization with Vial support
With this Rev.2.5, support for Vial is explicitly stated as the keymap remapping software.
It’s a QMK-based keymap platform that’s being adopted more and more in the custom keyboard scene, and compared to VIA, it’s also valued for letting you change keymaps without merging .json files—or even needing a .json file at all.
On top of that, since you don’t need to enter custom code for combos or Mod-Tap settings, our editorial team sees this as a very beneficial update for users.
On compact keyboards, you often rely on layers to make up for having fewer keys, so Vial support is a practical upgrade you won’t want to overlook.
Reworked bottom row structure | Improved around 2U and 1U layouts
For Geonix Rev.2.5, Chosfox highlights improved structure, refined 2U experience, and new dual 1U layout options.
First, let’s focus on the improved 2U spacebar.
Previously, the 2U spacebar had no stabilizer and felt wobbly, but on 2.5 it appears to include a stabilizer.

It also looks like this 2U spacebar can be split into 1U–1U.

As for multi-layout support, since it depends on the stabilizer footprint, our editorial team expects it may be handled via a dedicated switch plate.
Updated case materials | Two distinct options: semi-aluminum and full-aluminum
The case will be available in two versions: semi-aluminum and full-aluminum.

The semi-aluminum version is described as having a light, flowing feel with expressive RGB, while the full-aluminum version is introduced as more solid and restrained, with a distinctly metallic character.

In terms of design, it uses CNC-machined aluminum, which is said to provide durability and a solid feel.
In particular, the semi-aluminum version is designed with light transmission in mind, making RGB lighting look more vivid from the sides—definitely something to watch.

Geonix Rev.2.5 moves to the next stage
Chosfox has been releasing teasers on its official social channels, and it finally launches officially on May 22.
Along with detailed specs and pricing, if there’s a wireless connection option, we’ll also want to confirm whether it has Japan’s technical compliance certification.
The case design is said to be handled by Japanese designer Masro, which is likely to draw a lot of attention.
We can’t wait for the release.
