On May 22, 2024, PFU Corporation announced on the official X of its HHKB keyboard that it has launched a gesture pad guide specifically for the HHKB Studio.
The palm rests are manufactured by Matsuba Seisakusho, which produces wooden palm rests with a top surface treatment called kikko-naguri, and are available as a set with the palm rest or as a stand-alone gesture pad guide.

Both are made of “Black Cherry” wood, and only the palm rest has “Purple Heart” wood sandwiched between the two sides.
The reason behind the Gesture Pad Guide being sold is unique to the HHKB Studio.
The HHKB Studio is an “all-in-one device,” with a gesture pad on the side and front of the keyboard.
When the normal palm rest is used in contact with the keyboard, the touchpad on the front side is not available.
Although this can be resolved by slightly separating the palm rests, it is still more beautiful in appearance if they are attached…
It seems to have been developed to meet those needs.
The gesture pad guide can be set up according to the user’s preference by changing the front, back, and orientation.
