New Purple Color Added to the Ice Crystal Series

Previously, the Cerakey Ice Crystal series was available in the following two colors:

Purple Ice Crystal has now been added as the third color.

The design features white crystal patterns spreading across a purple ceramic surface, with the size and distribution of the patterns varying for each key.

According to Cerakey, these patterns are not created by printing or surface coating, but occur naturally during the manufacturing process.

Therefore, the pattern is unique to every single keycap.

It is noted that areas with dense crystal patterns may have a different tactile feel compared to the smooth ceramic parts.

Purple Ice Crystal Features V4 Stems

The new “V4 Reinforced Stem” is used in the Purple Ice Crystal set.

The stem material is high-toughness PC.

Cerakey states that by improving the stem structure, they have stabilized the contact with the key switch, reducing keycap wobble and the risk of breakage.

In early Cerakey models, the cross-shaped insert was part of the ceramic itself, which led to issues with switch compatibility and breakage.

V2 changed to a method of embedding a plastic stem. In this V4 version, the stem material and structure have been further refined, and a review of the Maris 60 HE confirmed that LED transparency has also been improved.

Note that the Purple Ice Crystal released this time is the one explicitly listed with V4 stems on the official product page.

The existing White Ice Crystal and Pink Ice Crystal are still listed as V2 products at the time of writing.

Ice Crystal Glaze Without UV Coating

The Ice Crystal series does not use a UV coating to protect the patterns.

The ice crystal patterns are formed inside the glaze through multiple stages of high-temperature firing.

Cerakey explains that by not applying a film-like coating to the surface, users can directly feel the natural coolness and smooth texture of the ceramic.

The glaze is fired at 1,140–1,280°C, creating a structure where the patterns won’t peel off the surface or wear down like printing.

Integrated Homing Bars on F and J Keys

Purple Ice Crystal includes F and J keys with homing bars to help identify the home position.

The homing bars are also fired at high temperatures as an integral part of the keycap.

With previous Cerakey sets, users sometimes had to purchase homing keys separately.

In the Ice Crystal series, the F and J keys are included in the standard set.

The fact that it’s now easier to return to the home position without looking is a practical improvement, not just a decorative one.

116 Keys Supporting Multiple English Layouts

According to the official spec sheet, Purple Ice Crystal consists of 116 keys.

The supported layouts are listed as follows:

  • 61 keys
  • 67 keys
  • 68-key
  • 81-key
  • 84 key
  • 87 keys
  • 96-key
  • 98-key
  • 104-key

It supports multiple layouts from 60% to full-size, based on the ANSI English layout.

Keycaps specific to Japanese layouts are not included. If used on a Japanese layout keyboard, sizes for keys around the spacebar and the Enter key may not fit.

Caution: Potential Interference with North-facing PCBs

Purple Ice Crystal uses the Cherry profile.

Cerakey recommends using South-facing PCBs, as there is a possibility of interference between the keycaps and switches on North-facing PCBs.

Issues arising from use with North-facing PCBs are not covered by the warranty.

Before purchasing, make sure to check the orientation of the LEDs and switches on your keyboard.

Greenkeys Continues to Feature the Ice Crystal Series

In April 2026, Greenkeys covered the announcement of White Ice Crystal and Pink Ice Crystal.

The Ice Crystal series is characterized by forming crystal patterns within the ceramic glaze through the firing process, without using UV coatings.

With this Purple Ice Crystal release, not only has a new color been added, but the stems have also been updated from V2 to V4.
