Cerakey describes it as a full ceramic magnetic keyboard with a proprietary dual-layer hollow structure.
It’s also a gaming-oriented keyboard featuring magnetic key switches, supporting Rapid Trigger adjustment in 0.01mm increments, 8,000Hz polling rate, and scan rates up to 64kHz. While emphasizing aesthetic beauty, it also delivers modern gaming performance.

Cerakey Maris 60 HE Advantages
Cerakey Maris 60 HE Advantages
- Overwhelming presence with ceramic construction extending to the case
- Unique texture of ceramic keycaps
- High performance as a magnetic keyboard, not just appearance
- Improved RGB light transparency with Cerakey V4 keycaps
- No need to worry about technical compliance certification issues due to wired-only connection
Overwhelming Presence with Ceramic Construction Extending to the Case
One of the major features of the Maris 60 HE is undoubtedly the beauty and presence of this case design.

The boldly opened rear design and the matching marbled resin cover are extremely well-matched.
The ability to coexist design and typing sound quality by properly closing the lid is also noteworthy.
Additionally, it can be enjoyed not only from the rear but also from the back and sides.

Furthermore, the combination of keycaps matching the case color is excellent, making this a keyboard that satisfies ownership desires.

Unique Texture of Ceramic Keycaps
First, look at this texture.

As you can see, each Ice Crack pattern is different.
These subtle differences seem to enhance the appeal of this keyboard.
High Performance as a Magnetic Keyboard, Not Just Appearance

The Maris 60 HE is not a keyboard that prioritizes appearance alone.
It also has high specifications as a magnetic keyboard.
Maris 60 HE Specifications as a Magnetic Keyboard
- Rapid Trigger adjustment in 0.01mm increments
- 8,000Hz polling rate
- Maximum 64kHz scan rate
- Minimum 0.125ms nominal latency
- SOCD
- RS
- DKS
It can be said to cover most of the features required in modern magnetic keyboards.
Additionally, the Maris 60 HE supports “Cerakey Lab,” which runs in a web browser.

Without installing software, [functionality available].
The configuration items actually confirmed are as follows.
- Firmware update: Yes
- Keymap change: Yes
- Actuation point: Yes
- Rapid Trigger: Yes
- SOCD: Yes
- RS: Yes
- DKS: Yes
- RGB: Yes
- Profile save: Yes
- Onboard memory: Yes
Being browser-based, the ability to change settings without dedicated software is very convenient.
Key calibration and firmware updates are also possible, of course.
Additionally, it automatically adapts to the language environment of the accessing country, and the fact that it displayed in Japanese was very impressive.
Improved RGB Light Transparency with Cerakey V4 Keycaps
The newly adopted Cerakey V4 keycaps feature a changed stem material.

Previous keycaps had non-transparent resin stems, which had the issue of not properly transmitting backlight.
However, this update made the stem itself “transparent,” beautifully resolving the transparency issue.

No Need to Worry About Technical Compliance Certification Issues Due to Wired-Only Connection
The Maris 60 HE is deliberately “wired connection” only.
This is likely because gaming performance was prioritized, emphasizing the 8k polling rate.

On the other hand, as a result, there’s no need to obtain technical compliance certification for introduction to Japan, and it can be used safely domestically.
Relatively Soft Typing Feel Despite Being a Magnetic Keyboard
Magnetic keyboards have a structural constraint where the distance between the PCB and switch plate must be kept precisely constant due to their design.
Reference: Do “hybrid keyboards” supporting both magnetic and mechanical switches have any reason to exist?
Therefore, the “switch plate gasket mount structure” typical of regular mechanical keyboards is difficult to implement, and I personally feel they tend to have a relatively firm typing feel.
Considering that, the typing feel of the Maris 60 HE is not particularly hard despite being a magnetic keyboard.
Looking at the structural diagram, while it has a tray mount structure, silicon dampers are incorporated.

This likely cushions the impact during typing, resulting in a typing feel that’s not too hard.
Points to Check Before Purchasing Cerakey Maris 60 HE
Points to Check Before Purchasing Cerakey Maris 60 HE
- Typing feel is tuned quite mildly
- 60% layout is selective for users
- Currently only one type of replacement magnetic key switch available
- Wired connection only
- Palm rest essential during use
Typing Feel Is Tuned Quite Mildly
While the soft typing feel was mentioned as an advantage, compared to typical magnetic keyboards, it’s likely tuned quite mildly.
Those who regularly type on firmer magnetic keyboards may find this aspect unusual.
60% Layout Is Selective for Users
The 60% layout is selective for users.
The Maris 60 HE has no arrow keys.

The default arrow key operation involves pressing the Fn key in the lower right while pressing the surrounding keys arranged as inverted-T arrow keys.
While many are accustomed to 65% keyboards without function keys, non-gaming users unfamiliar with 60% layout may face some switching costs.
Currently Only One Type of Replacement Magnetic Key Switch Available

The Maris 60 HE uses magnetic key switches and supports hot-swapping.
However, replacement key switch options are not presented at the time of writing.
In the web app handling calibration, while brand options like Gateron exist, they’re empty.
While this will likely be added in future updates, those particular about specific switches may see this as a disadvantage.
Wired Connection Only
The Maris 60 HE is wired connection only.
It doesn’t feature the currently popular 4k/8k wireless connection using dedicated USB receivers.
It may not be an option for those who prioritize wireless connection even in magnetic keyboards.
Palm Rest Essential During Use
The front height of the Maris 60 HE is approximately 250mm, which is high compared to regular keyboards.

While different-height replacement rubber feet are included, it’s still high regardless.

Therefore, a wrist rest (palm rest) will be necessary when typing.

USB Cable Used Is Limited to Thin Ones
The Maris 60 HE is made of ceramic and is considerably thicker compared to typical keyboard cases.
Additionally, the opening width of the upper part of the Type-C port is somewhat narrow, so some aviator cables and others with large connector diameters may not fit.
Caution is needed on this point.

Differences from Peak60

What we want to compare with the Cerakey Maris 60 HE is the “Peak60 HE” also sold by Cerakey.

The Peak60 HE is also a 60% magnetic keyboard combining a ceramic case and ceramic keycaps.
It supports 8,000Hz polling rate, maximum 64kHz scan rate, and Rapid Trigger settings in 0.01mm increments.
In other words, rather than the Maris 60 HE being a significantly higher-performance product than the Peak60 HE as a magnetic keyboard, it seems closer to view it as a model that reconfigured case structure, design, and price range.

Basic performance as magnetic keyboards is similar
Both the Maris 60 HE and Peak60 HE support 8,000Hz polling rate, maximum 64kHz scan rate, and Rapid Trigger settings in 0.01mm increments.
They support actuation point changes using Cerakey Lab, and settings for Rapid Trigger, SOCD, RS, DKS, etc., and within the publicly disclosed range, there are no major differences in basic functionality as magnetic keyboards.
Therefore, when choosing between the two products, the main decision factors are differences in case structure, appearance, and price rather than just gaming performance numbers.
Maris 60 HE Significantly Redesigns Case Design

The Peak60 HE adopts a relatively orthodox box-shaped ceramic case.
In contrast, the Maris 60 HE adopts a dual-layer hollow structure with large openings around the perimeter.
While leveraging the ceramic texture, the design has been changed to a form clearly different from the conventional Peak60 HE.
The distinctive feature is undoubtedly the bottom design.
The complex ceramic design with dual hollow structure captivates viewers.
Additionally, the Maris 60 HE offers not only a full ceramic model but also a Metal Edition adopting a die-cast aluminum case.
For those wanting to experience Cerakey’s ceramic keycaps while keeping costs down, the Metal Edition will be a new option.
Maris 60 HE Has Significant Price Competitiveness
The official sales price of Peak60 HE is $299.
In contrast, the VIP price of Maris 60 Pro Ceramic Edition is $199.
In simple comparison, it’s set approximately $90 cheaper than the Peak60 HE.
Furthermore, the Metal Edition adopting a die-cast aluminum case has a VIP price of $89.
While there’s the condition of being an early support price on Kickstarter, it can be said to be quite competitively priced as a magnetic keyboard equipped with ceramic keycaps.
Peak60 HE or Maris 60 HE: Which Should You Choose?
Organizing from current information, the selection criteria are as follows.
People Suited for Maris 60 HE
- Those attracted to the unique design of the dual-layer hollow structure
- Those wanting to purchase a full ceramic model as cheaply as possible
- Those who want to include die-cast aluminum case as an option
- Those who can accept Kickstarter support and waiting for shipment
People Suited for Peak60 HE
- Those who prefer a simple box-shaped ceramic case
- Those wanting to purchase a finished product normally rather than crowdfunding
- Those wanting to choose a model with existing sales track record
Rather than the Maris 60 HE being a superior model that clearly exceeds Peak60 HE performance, it seems better to view it as a product that reconfigured Cerakey’s ceramic keyboard with new design and price range.
Since there are almost no differences in basic keyboard performance, the Maris 60 HE is more recommendable unless there’s a particular reason.
[Photo Review] Cerakey Maris 60 HE Review
Now let’s look at actual photos of the Maris 60 HE.
It comes in a very solid box featuring the distinctive rear design of the Maris 60 HE.

Let’s open it.
Here, an amazing gimmick was installed to “elevate” the unboxing experience.
The keyboard actually rises up.

KawamuraThis is the first keyboard I’ve seen with such attention to unboxing.
Let’s look at the box contents.
Removing the keyboard body reveals the following items.

Now let’s look at the keyboard.
The layout is ANSI 60%, typical for gaming.
Of course, there are no arrow keys.

The ice crystal color body and same-color ceramic keycaps have a unique crack pattern like ice crystals.

Also, the appeal of this unit isn’t limited to the keycaps.
The appeal of this keyboard lies in the ceramic case with its special structure.
First, the side view.
The look is truly “ceramic.”

The highlight is the rear.
The distinctive rear featured on the packaging has a three-dimensional structure.

Since the board would be visible as-is, it’s covered with a resin plate.

Let’s check the dimensions.
The front height of the Maris 60 HE is approximately 25mm in actual measurement, which is quite high compared to regular keyboards (~20mm or so).

Accordingly, the rear side also reaches approximately 37mm.

Therefore, a palm rest seems essential for typing.

Also, the typing angle is fixed at approximately 7.6 degrees, a strong incline.

The newly developed Cerakey V4 keycaps are adopted in this model.

The change is in the stem part.
As shown in the photo below, you can see the stem color has changed to transparent.

This transparent stem greatly improves backlight transparency.

However, some difficulty remains in product finish quality, as the homing key was coated with glaze, making the bump imperceptible.
KawamuraWhen I mentioned this should be checked during pre-shipment QC inspection, they said thorough checks would be performed before product shipment.
Such defects are unlikely in the production version.

The switch plate is labeled “Titanium White Plate.”
The switch is Cerakey’s original magnetic switch, with specifications of 35gf at the start of press and 50gf at the end.
While individual perception varies, it felt slightly heavy compared to recent “lighter” key switches.

Also, while the key switches are hot-swappable, key switches that can be calibrated are not currently disclosed, and items like “Gateron” in the editing web app are blank.
KawamuraFuture updates are anticipated.

Summary

Above, we’ve reviewed the Maris 60 HE.
While its performance as a gaming keyboard is notable, the appeal of this keyboard clearly lies in its outstanding looks.
A full ceramic keyboard unified from keycaps to case is a unique appeal that only Cerakey can deliver.
