It’s quite rare to see brands exhibiting “only keycaps” at TGS 2026.
One of them is “OSHID.”
I had seen it on display at TKX2025, so I was already familiar with the brand name.
What caught my eye was this set of keycaps.
Although they look like they’re made of aluminum, these keycaps are actually made of resin.
The material is likely PBT, and the print appears to be a full-surface finish achieved using a five-sided sublimation printing process.
It also beautifully reproduced the dull sheen that could easily be mistaken for real metal.
On the other hand, these are classic keycaps.
“Hiragana” characters appear in Subrelegend, and they are almost identical to the “kana characters” used in Japan.
Actually, cases where they match are the rarer ones.
Overseas, the appearance of Japanese “kana” seems to be considered “cool,” so it’s often printed in a stylish way—which can result in the “position of the kana” differing from what we’re used to seeing.
These keycaps also appear to be part of that trend.
KawamuraIn Japan, there is a growing preference for omitting kana in printed text, and it seems that this trend differs significantly between Japan and the rest of the world.
As for OSHID, it appeared that they also accept OEM manufacturing orders.
While mechanical keyboards with Japanese key layouts have become more common in recent years, it seems that the lack of a standardized space bar size makes ensuring compatibility a challenge.
KawamuraGreenEchoes Studio is also taking steps to enhance the interoperability of Japanese-layout keycaps, such as by establishing a voluntary organization called JLA.
