The split keyboard finally joins the Ultra series.
On May 8, 2026, Keychron launched the product page for the “Keychron Q11 Ultra 8K Wireless Custom Mechanical Keyboard.”
Priced at $239.99, the product page offers the Fully Assembled Knob model in Black, with a choice of Keychron Silk POM Switches in Red, Brown, or Banana.

The Q11 Ultra 8K is the split-layout model in the Keychron Q series.
Models bearing the “Ultra” name are positioned as the flagships of the Q series.
While the original “Q11” required a Type-C “tethering cable” to connect the two halves, this version finally achieves a completely wireless setup through 2.4GHz wireless syncing.
Let’s take a look at the features of the Q11 Ultra, which has finally gained its freedom.

The biggest change from the old Q11: Wireless Syncing

The most noteworthy aspect of the Q11 Ultra 8K is undoubtedly the implementation of wireless connectivity between the left and right units.
The original Q11 was an attractive model as a full-metal split keyboard, but using it as a split unit required a cable connection between the halves, which somewhat limited the freedom of placement.
In contrast, the Q11 Ultra 8K units sync wirelessly via 2.4GHz, allowing you to enjoy a split layout while reducing cable clutter on your desk.
The main appeal of a split keyboard is the ability to position the halves freely to match the natural alignment of your hands and shoulders.
Since there aren’t many full-metal split keyboards easily available as pre-built units, the Q11 Ultra 8K is a rare, niche model that combines Keychron’s mass-production capabilities with the freedom of a split layout.
Supports 8K Polling, ZMK, and Keychron Launcher

As the name suggests, the Q11 Ultra 8K features an 8,000Hz polling rate.
The product description explains that a high-performance dual-chip configuration enables the 8K polling rate even in wireless mode.

Additionally, it uses ZMK firmware and supports customization via the Keychron Launcher.

The keyboard features PBT keycaps in the KSA profile and is equipped with the new generation of Silk POM switches.

The chassis is a precision CNC-machined metal body, inheriting the heavy, premium build quality typical of the Keychron Q series.
Unfortunately, it retains the same top-mount structure as the Q11, but it will be interesting to see what kind of typing feel the combination of the latest POM switches and sound-absorbing material provides.

The combination of a split layout, full metal build, and 8K wireless is a fairly bold configuration, but it’s likely to appeal to a significant number of enthusiasts.
Keychron’s split keyboards move into the Ultra generation

In recent years, Keychron has been expanding its Q Ultra 8K series, which combines 2.4GHz wireless, 8K polling, ZMK, and Keychron Launcher support.
The Q11 Ultra 8K brings that trend to the split-layout category.
Split keyboards are often discussed in the context of DIY projects or small boutique brands.
In that landscape, it is quite significant that Keychron has released a full-metal 75% split keyboard with wireless syncing.
The Q11 Ultra 8K looks to be a relatively straightforward choice for users who are interested in split keyboards but weren’t ready to dive into DIY kits or specialized layouts.
Since it can also be used as a single unit, our editorial team believes there are no real downsides to it being a split model.

While only the US layout is listed at the moment, this is a highly anticipated release that marks the evolution of Keychron’s split keyboards into the Ultra generation.
We look forward to its introduction in the Japanese market.
