One of the pleasures of mechanical keyboards is “keycap replacement.
If your keyboard has Cherry MX compatible key switches, you can replace the keycaps yourself.
In this issue, we will introduce two types of replacement keycap sets “KAT White on Black” by Keyreative, a keycap manufacturing brand, Candy and Extensions.

About KAT Profile
The KAT profile is an original profile licensed by Keyreative.
Analyzing the Cherry and SA profiles, it has several ergonomic features such as height, keycap shape, and thickness.
In particular, the “spherical design” of the key tops, which is not found in the general Cherry profile, is indented toward the center of the keys, providing a fingertip-absorbing typing feel.
In addition, the keycaps can be made up to 1.7 mm thick, which has the potential to achieve a deeper keystroke sound.
It is a keycap that really “sucks on your fingers”.
The KAT profile is uniquely attractive in these respects.

Let’s start with the WoB Extensions.
Design|Mr. Biip
- Base | $109.00
- Accents|$25.00
- Novelties|$19.00
- HHKB
- All in One|$129.00
It arrives in a stylish black paper packing.
Let’s start with the novelty key caps.
The very pop coloring is eye-catching, but the overall impression is soft because it includes light colors as well as vivid colors.
I see that the keycaps are “icons” specific to Mr. Biip with respect to the modifier keys.
As for the accent key, it has a simple design.
The keycaps are two-color molded (double-shot), so the printing will not disappear due to wear.
It is also made of PBT material, which is highly resistant to abrasion, and will rarely become shiny when used.
As for the lateral slant, there is less difference in the slant of each row than in Cherry, which minimizes the risk of fingers getting caught when typing.
If you dare to use only the base kit, it will give a cool impression, but the modifier keys are iconic, making the overall impression somewhat pop.
When used in conjunction with an accent kit, the accent key itself is black-based, which adds a touch of color to the coolness.
When combined with the novelty kit, it turns into a very poppy look.

Designer|Ice
- Base | $99.00
- Accents|$20.00
- All in One|$103.32
The rainbow-colored paper package is stylish.
Unlike KAT WoB Extensions, you can see that the modifier keys are letters.
The alpha key portion is common to Extensions.
This kit also offers a choice of two types of homing (protruding keys) for the F and J keys, one with normal protrusions and one more centrally recessed.
After all, the double-shot printing is crisp and beautiful.
Accent keys are very colorful, as is the name of the candy.
The precision of the double-shot molding is excellent, and there are no burrs.
When configured with only the base kit, the keyboard looks very chic.
After all, when the modifier key is in character, it looks clicky.
Add an accent key and it instantly transforms into a pop.
summary
These are the two keycap sets in the KAT profile.
Although the kits are based on the same black base, you may have noticed that the impression is very different depending on whether the modifier keys are legendary or symbolic.
I would recommend Extensions for a pop look, and Candy for a chic look.
